ORDER YOUR TICKETS TODAY! Purchase tickets to the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra Concert "Music for the Spirit" on June 24th at 8 PM and help East End kids! Highland Park residents can support the Kids related service projects of the Kiwanis Club of East Liberty by buying a ticket for the Saturday, June 24th 2006 "Music for the Spirit" Concert at Heinz Hall. This social and cultural event is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of East Liberty as a benefit for Kidz-E-Fest, their K-Kids Club at Fulton Academy in Highland Park and other service projects. The 8:00 PM concert is part of the Pittsburgh Symphonys interfaith Music for the Spirit partnership. Sir Gilbert Levine will be conducting. This Pittsburgh Symphony program includes the United States premiere of John Harbisons Abraham and Mahlers Symphony No. 3 in D Minor with both the Mendelssohn Choir and Children's Festival Chorus of Pittsburgh. The East Liberty Kiwanis Club is hosting an informal gathering in the Grand Tier Lounge on the second level of Heinz Hall from 7:00 7:45 PM. There will be a cash bar. Mayor O'Connor is scheduled to speak at the HPCC meeting, this Thursday, June 15th. The meeting will be held at St Andrew's Church, 5801 Hampton Street, beginning at 7:30 pm. The HPCC has asked the Mayor to speak about the current Budget, Downtown Development and the Casinos, Public Safety and the School Safety Zones, Graffiti, and Street Sweeping. All are welcome. [Highland Park] hit again by vandals!

Well neighbors... My husband and I were hit again (twice in one week - how can we be that lucky?)! This time our tire was slashed. We had a one (or so) inch slash in our tire. We reported this to the police and a report was made. We noticed the tired this morning around 5:45 A.M., but it seems that there was some commotion around 11 P.M. last night (Friday), according to other neighbors. We were not the only car hit - there were at least two more cars that suffered the same fate on Jackson Street. Please be vigilant and PLEASE report any and all vandalism. When reports are made it allows the police to compile the reports and compare similar incidences, which is they key to actually catching vandals. I urge you to report anything that seems even slightly suspicious. Think of it as a benefit to all of your neighbors. Thank you! Michelle

[Highland Park] tire slashing

Woke up this morning (Saturday) to find the 2 front tires on my car had been slashed. I heard something strange about 11:00 but did not pursue it. Seems other neighbors on the 6400-6500 block of Jackson St also had their tires slashed. Police reports were made. Marty Harkins
