Um...I asked the tree surgeons on my street this AM to leave me some chipped wood on my driveway. When I returned -true to their word-there was a mountain of it even blocking my doorway :) It is down my driveway @6504. It was an old apple tree and pine tree trimmings, but I cannot guarentee that it is poison ivy free, so it wouldn't be appropriate for children's play area. It is very coarsely chopped (w/some sticks and leaves). I put it down underneath the deck where there is a muddy, shady area. I'd love to share it. [Highland Park] Grill for Sale - Part 2

A few months ago I purchased a used Thermos "Grill to Go, Fire and Ice" from a neighbor in Highland Park, but would like to get rid of it now. It is propane fueled, priced at $150 new on Amazon.com. It has a cover with it, but no propane tank. I recently acquired a charcoal grill, therefore do not want the Thermos. I have never used it, and it was used very little before I purchased it, so it is in very good shape. The Thermos grill is not a charcoal grill, but like a griddle. (Similar to a George Foreman ) I thought that I had a buyer, but that didn't work out. Any interested can contact me - jmsutara(a)verizon.net Thanks! Hi there again neighbors, Thanks for the many responses we received regarding the rat problem. We do not keep food / dog food or garbage in our backyard and there is no standing water. There is a large brush pile that is close to our fenced in yard that may be housing the critters. We are still investigating that. I am hoping that this little guy got flooded out of the sewer and just "surfaced" as one person had pointed out. I called Animal Control ( 412-255-2325) who promptly arrived at my home and took the rat away. My 2-yr old cried when they took him away.....she thought the rat was here to stay. : )Oh well, he is probably in now rat heaven. The Animal Control people gave me Rodent Control dept in Public Works and suggested that I contact them if I see other rats. 412-255-2339 I am putting my trap out again tonight to see if there are any other rat friends out there. Someone suggested contacting the Zoo about getting rid of future rats? I suppose there are some hungry critters there who like rats for dinner. Has anyone had any experience with contacting the Zoo to dispose of rats? I'll keep everyone posted on the rat situation. Thanks again for your responses, Lori

If you can make time, please stop by Peabody HS (volunteers with the school will be situated around the exterior of the school) this Fri between 8:30-2:30 to assist in beautification plantings. While plans are in the works for shrubbery to be planted around the practice field area, this Friday will be used to plant flowers and smaller plants. Even an hour of time would be appreciated! Hi all! I wrote a while back about a big dent in my car, wondering if anyone else had a problem with that. I found out what happened (of course by getting another huge dent in my hood) is that I park on Robinson st in Oakland, which as it turns out is right below the baseball batting practice area, and got hit by fly baseballs. Well, it's good to know that my car isn't the target of local hoodlums or anything :P I just wanted to let you all know. -DaveP Chislett St.
