Hello all, You have always been so helpful in the past, so I thought you may have some suggestions for me. I have a 17 year old niece from Sweden who will come and visit with us for several weeks during the summer. She is going to agricultural school in Sweden, and works with horses and other animals. She would very much like to do some volunteer work with animals while she is here. She was also very interested in Pittsburgh Zoo program, but when I checked their volunteer summer youth program has already filled up. I spoke with a local shelter for dogs/cats and they always need volunteers, but I would really like to find something with horses if at all possible. Does anyone know of any horse farms/stables nearby? Do you know of any other volunteer opportunity working with animals? Thanks! All, Figured I'd share in case someone is looking for a sweet kitten. See below from a friend and attached. Hi: I found a kitten in my apartment hallway on Sunday. Someone probably let her in to keep her out of the cold. She needs a home! My neighbor is holding her but he won't keep her. We took her to the vet last night, she is healthy…no feline leukemia or aids and she got her shots. She is about 14 weeks and 4 lbs. She is extremely sweet, mellow and affectionate. She will just curl up on you and go to sleep. I think she would be fine with kids, dogs or cats. She'll be a great pet! Her picture is attached.

Dear Highland Park Neighbors, My name is Emma Tulsky. I'm fourteen years old and I'm looking to raise money by doing odd jobs. I'm trying to raise money for a very exciting opportunity I have to be part of a program called People to People. People to People was founded by Dwight D. Eisenhower and all the presidents since have been the honorary chairmen. People to People is about joining Teens all around the world and learning about our cultural differences. I am in the Sports Ambassadors part of the program, playing soccer. The trip this year for People to People is to Vienna, Austria, to participate in the Ambassador games. I am really interested in going to Austria because I've never gone there and I especially never played soccer there against other teams all over the globe. I'm very excited about meeting people from my country that are as interested in soccer as I am. Another cool part about People to People is that it is kind of like the Olympics in the way that you represent your country and you compete against other Teens from other countries. The downside is that the program is very expensive and I have to come up with one thousand dollars on my own to participate, and my parents will pay the rest. I am very motivated to raise this money, and I can do whatever you think a 14 year old is capable of doing. Sunday, February 11, 4 p.m. @ St. Andrew's, an event in the continuing Adult Programs Series, "Focus on Jesus." "Jesus the Healer" Healing the sick is a major part of the ministry of Jesus as represented in the New Testament--and has been a major continuing theme of historic Christianity. We begin this Sunday a two-part exploration, with presentation by the Rev. Dr. Peter Ostrander, regional and national leader with the Order of St. Luke, on how we might read and understand the foundational Biblical material on this basic topic. Discussion with questions and comments will follow. All are invited, and a Sherry Hour dessert reception will follow. (Note: in April the Rev. Dr. Langdon Peagram will speak at St. Andrew's on the healing and medical ministries of the church through the ages and in our contemporary period.)
