St. Andrew's is going to be shuffling some of our administrative work this year, and we have a new part time position opening up which we're going to call "Financial Secretary." Basically this is going to be the person that makes deposits, pays bills, keeps records, and prepares financial reports. We estimate that the job will average about 8 hours a week--with a certain variability. Some weeks it might be 6, some 10. We'll need to have some predictability in terms of office hours, but this is also something that can be adjusted pretty flexibly to fit in with other work or family needs of the person doing the job. The person doing the job needs to be bondable, detail-oriented, computer-proficient, and familiar with basic financial management concepts. He or she should be familiar with spreadsheet software. There will be good training by our current financial manager and ongoing available support and supervision. A more detailed Position Description is available upon request. The Neighborhood Academy (an inner city college prep high school in Garfield) is hosting a Performing Arts Show Saturday Feb. 10th 6-9pm called The Neighborhood Slam Proceeds go to sponsor a student mission trip to New Orleans for Katrina relief work. Pianist Emanuel Ax will be featured at the concert on February 9. On February 9, the entire Episcopal diocese--church members, guests, neighbors & friends--is invited to attend Episcopal Night at the Symphony, at Heinz Hall in downtown Pittsburgh. Tickets to the concert are available in several sections at a 25 percent discount, said Susy Robison, wife of St. Andrews Highland Park Rector Bruce Robison and volunteer director for the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Pittsburgh Episcopalians will begin to gather with Bishop Henry and Catherine Scriven at 7 pm in the Simmons Regency Rooms on the lower level of Heinz Hall for an informal reception with a cash bar. The 8 pm performance will be conducted by Jahja Ling and features world renowned pianist Emanuel Ax. The program includes Mozarts Symphony No. 25 in G minor, Strausss Tod und Verklärung, [Death and Transfiguration], and the Brahms Concerto No. 1 in D minor for Piano and Orchestra.
