Monday Evening Discussions continue with the film, “Mighty Times: The Children’s March,” a documentary about students in Birmingham, Alabama who played a powerful role in ending segregation. A group discussion will follow. Monday Evening Discussions, hosted by the Union Project and Open Door, are open to all and free of charge. Next week, Feb. 26th, “The Kitchen” a play by Rob Zellers and a discussion about white guilt and privilege will be the featured work. Photos on Sale In Urban Fusion Photos by local artist Vernon Gay are currently on display in Union Fusion Café. Ranging in a variety of sizes, styles, and prices, photos are also available for purchase. Urban Fusion Live – March 2nd Join the Union Project for the 2nd Month of Urban Fusion Live, our new First Friday music series featured local artists. This month local singer/songwriters Clark Slater, Tony Lee, and Todd Adleff will take the stage, Friday, March 2nd at 8pm. The three performers of the evening have gained fans and acclaim both locally and nationally. Tickets for the Urban Fusion Live concerts are priced at $5 for adults and$3 for children under the age of 13, free for children 5 and under, with proceeds benefiting the final renovation of the Great Hall of the Union Project. Dan Miller, at the Center for Integrative Medicine, 580 Aiken Avenue, is a really good chiropractor. My wife and I have been going to him for several years, and he has helped us through some pretty serious back crises. In fact, I just finished a course of 4 adjustments in one week to get my back in shape to go skiing. It has been bothering me for several weeks, but it is almost 100%functional again... [Highland Park] Please call Starck Moving Vans to Complain of its Hitting Neighborhood Trees

A moving truck owned and operated by "Starck Vans" hit our neighbor's tree, broke two branches that are presently hanging at windshield height, broke a cable wire that was left in the street, and mangled other branches. The event occurred on Winterton Street near Bryant Street. If you have the time, feel free to call them at 800-326-6556, x 2809 to complain about their practice of leaving behind dangerous conditions in our neighborhood. The more the merrier. I have two bookcases (brown) and two storage units (white) available free for the taking. The bookcases are 48"h x 48"w x12"d, made of particle board with wood-pattern veneer. Originally from Office Depot (or similar store). The white units are 18"h x 48"w x 18"d. I used them to store record albums (remember vinyl?) and other stufff. [Highland Park] Big Help From Two Neighborhood Snow Shovelers...

With all the bad press surrounding the neighborhood snow shoveling group, I thought I would pass along some positive news to help their cause. As I was trying to dig my car out of the snow and ice that had been plowed into it yesterday evening, two young boys approached, snow shovels in hand, and asked if I needed help. I said no, but, appreciated their offer. They stood there, itching to help, and I explained I didn't have any cash on me. At that point, they not only waived off my decline, but, told me they wanted to help and that I don't need to pay them. They just jumped in and started to shovel. They were helpful beyond belief (I even had to keep an eye on them to make sure they didn't try to push the car when I tried numerous times to pull due to them repeatedly asking me if they should try that as well). They stayed out in the dark and cold and helped until enough snow was cleared to pull the car from the curb. On top of that, I came home to find not only a huge, well-cleared rectangle in front of my house to pull back into but, also, my new snow shovel where I had accidentally left it, in haste, on the sidewalk. I asked how business had been that day and they shrugged and said they made $10. I thought it was nice that they were still in good spirits after what had probably been a long evening for them. Their names were Michael and Neil.if anyone knows where they live, please let me know and don't be afraid of supporting these two with the next snowfall.
