[Highland Park] Rules for outdoor burning within the city?

The house behind me on Mellon Street (our backyards adjoin) is having work done on it. This morning whoever is doing the work started a fire in a metal drum and is burning large amounts of wood. The amount of smoke is horrible (maybe they're burning more than just wood?) and it stinks inside my house. The whole block is covered with gray smoke, too. Is this legal in the city, to burn what is essentially trash? I'm positive that the wood is from the construction they're doing, so who knows if it's painted, varnished, etc. Anyone know who i would contact about this? This is at least the second time it's happened since they've been working there and it's really unpleasant. Also can't be great for all the kids at Fulton, across the street from my house. If anyone knows what they're burning over there, or who I would contact about getting them to not do it again, I'd greatly appreciate hearing about it. Thanks! Genevieve

Hi Neighbors, I have some floater candles that I'd like to give away. They are pretty nice, so before dropping them at Goodwill, I thought I'd offer them to the neighborhood. Also, I have a glass bowl in a stand from PartyLite for the candles that I'm selling for $15. Neighbors, Last month I requested recommendations on appliance repair persons and received several e-mails that said Robert Spirko was very competent. I have tried unsuccessfully for weeks to try to set up an appointment with him, endlessly playing telephone tag . He never answers either of his numbers which I find odd for someone running a business. Is he currently working for anyone at this time? Any suggestions or comments from his former "customers?" Hello Highland Park Moms - I have been thinking of organizing a Highland Park Mom Swap. No, not switching households (however tempting that may be at times), but holding a monthly (every other month?) exchange of stuff in someone's house. Here's how I think it might work: Everyone brings their lightly-used kid stuff to my house on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. Put low price tags on things and bring some cash to get some stuff for yourself. I am hoping that if it takes off, we could eventually move it to other houses, but I'm more than willing to get the ball rolling. Is there interest out there? I have a friend who does this in Michigan and almost everything she has for her kids she got at a Mom swap for cheap. It sounds very appealing to me! I'm thinking of having one in January.
