tip on a current phone scam: If someone calls you and says "hi grandpa"(mom, dad, grandma, uncle) or any other generic name ... and then says something like "you don't know who you're talking to?" expecting you to guess their name ... Think twice right here ... If you tell them any name (just pick one out of the blue) and they say "yes" to that ... then of course you know it's a scam. I made the mistake of guessing it was my nephew, because his dad, my brother, always jokingly calls me grandpa, so this scammer had me going for a minute or 2 more. No harm done, he chickened out and hung up once I started asking a few questions.

A freewill offering will be received. East Liberty Presbyterian Church welcomes Dr. Ysaÿe M. Barnwell to Pittsburgh as she leads us in a Community Sing. Dr. Barnwell describes the Community Sing: “A community sing is an opportunity for anyone who wants to sing with other people to come and do just that for 2 hours. They are conducted in the “oral tradition” so you don’t have to read music or have any musical training. I sing to the group and the group sings back. We begin in a fun easy way and in two hours we become a choir of uncommon voices singing with great joy in 4 to 8 part harmony, and as many rhythms, and raising the roof.” Dr. Ysaÿe M. Barnwell joined Sweet Honey in the Rock in 1979 and retired from the group this past May. She appeared on more than thirty recordings with Sweet Honey in the Rock and other artists. Community Sings are held monthly at the Levine School of Music in Washington, DC, where Dr. Barnwell is an artist-in-residence. I think I responded to your nextdoor post. We interviewed and got quotes from over 10 plumbers and Matt Mertz was clearly the most competent. When I called them back to say I really preferred their service but their quote was mid-range, they asked for proof of my lowest quote and matched it. They did a timely and terrific job. ****************************** I have had many clients rave about Krupp Whitney. I had a friend who used Terry recently for a sewer situation, and he said Terry actually said one of the other quotes was recommending work that wasn't necessary, and ended up saving my buddy a lot of money.
