Neighbors, I wanted to share my experience with the new preschool, Pride Center Academy, my son has been attending for the past month. They have a bilingual curriculum and we love his immersion in Spanish at such a young age. The teachers are great and welcome parent involvement. They are a smaller preschool (19 kids max) and allow for flexibility in the curriculum. Coming from a larger daycare, we enjoy the smaller family environment. They are enrolling potty trained 3-5 year olds for part-time and full time care. Their curriculum is well rounded with Spanish immersion, yoga, visits from Carnegie librarians, etc. They are open are open 6:30 am through 6 pm year round. Both teachers are fluent in Spanish. We have a small (often volunteer) singing group that performs in a number of venues. You may have heard us at the Bryant Street Festival. When we are not performing in a nursing home, we occasionally perform at local area venues without sound systems. For example, we were at Saxonburg Festival of the Arts today and our outdoor location did not have a sound system. We would have sounded much better and carried much better with one. We do not own an amplifier, but do have access to two microphones. We do not wish to purchase anything or especially carry heavy equipment. We do occasionally get paid, and wonder if anyone out there would be interested in bringing and setting up one amplifier (yours) and two microphones (either your microphones or pick up ours in Squirrel Hill) for a small fee. And if so, what would you charge?
