I purchased one and collected three other dog crates in preparation for getting a puppy, and ended up not using them. I know some folks find them useful for leaving dogs alone or when traveling (in the car or on planes - three appear to meet airplane standards). 1. For small dogs: Heavy duty plastic "Petco Classic Kennel," http://www.petco.com/product/11074/PETCO-Classic-Kennel.aspx. 26" L X 18.75" W X 16.5" H For pets up to 16" tall and up to 25 lbs. This was used twice before we gave up on crate training our pup, so it's like new. It retails for $40. I'd be happy to take $15 for it. 2. For medium dogs: Heavy duty plastic with wire door, "Petmate Varikennel". http://www.petmate.com/vari-kennel-ultra-fashion-2 Intermediate size 32″ L x 22.5″ W x 24″ H For pets up to 23" tall and up to 50 pounds. In very good condition. I got it for free and will pass it along for free. 3. For medium-large dogs: Heavy duty plastic. There's no label, so I don't know the brand. 33"L x 20" W x 26" H. In good condition, but showing some wear. Free. 4. For medium dogs: Wire cage, some rust. Free. Stephanie

Dear Neighbors, Am trying to find out if anyone else has had a problem collecting money from PWSA. In the spring my car went in a sinkhole at Stevenson's Place (alley behind Penn Circle S.) Water had been there for some time and yet when I drove over it I went into a sinkhole that damaged my car (over $1500 worth). I called PWSA and my insurance company, who thankfully paid all but my $500 deduct. Months later when I still had not received my deduct back, my insurance company followed up and PWSA said I had not mailed a required form. I had never been told when I reported it that I needed to fill out any form...but we got it...filled it out..mailed it back....and waited. Again, months later my insurance company follows up and I finally get a letter saying that they have governmental protection and that they are denying my claim???? First,,,if they are indeed not liable..why not say so in the first place. Does anyone know how I go about pursuing this matter or if indeed there can be an area with a sinkhole and they are indeed not liable??? Thanks, Deborah Daquila 1121 King Ave.

[Highland Park] Wandering Dog

Met him (a male) about 4:15pm today -- I was walking my dog and he joined us -- this was at the corner of Bryant & Farragut -- a spaniel, brown & white w/ long ears and cropped tail -- perhaps 40+ lbs. He was gentle but seemed confused and frightened and followed us home. I am at 1111 Farragut St. and my yard is fenced so I closed the gate. Tried to give him food -- he refused -- but seems sweet and got along fine w/ my dog. He was wearing a blue collar but would not let me inspect it. He wanted out so I opened the gate and he headed down Farragut towards Jackson. I did call Animal Control but they could not find him. It's going to be a cold night so I may leave my gate open and put out a bed w/ bedding on my front porch. Alas, I have a dog and cat and can't adopt another but w/ his collar I assume he has an owner. Let's get him back home! -- Margaret O'Connell
