Hi neighbors... I just discovered that Duquesne Light is not the only game in town when it comes to providing electricity. They are still the distributors, but we now have a choice when determining where that energy comes from. A friend of mine, Michael Stadtlander, is a rep for Viridian, a new choice for providing green energy. If you're interested in learning more, check out this website.... http://viridian.com/greenenergycompany/Custom/CUST077/PersonalPages/rp_pa.a… This particular page shows the rates of their different products... they have a 20% green product and a 100% green product. Make sure to click on the Duquesne Light tab, if that's who provides your current service. It saved me money compared to what I'm paying now with DL and it will probably save you some too... plus it's better for the environment. [Highland Park] robberies in the area

Through friends and friends of friends, I've heard of 8 armed robberies and muggings in the past week. The suspects' descriptions and actions all sound similar. They have been in 3 parts of Friendship, 2 on Stanton Ave near N. Negley (close to the Union Project), 1 in Bloomfield (80 year old woman carrying her groceries home), and 2 in the 9th ward of Lawrenceville. Please be safe everybody. Hopefully the police are working extra hard on this as it is a serious threat to the public. dear all, a few days ago i posted an email about a tabby cat i spotted. he (not a she) came back to me last night. i am keeping him with me this time, and hope to find his owner soon. i do not have a photo of him. so here's the description again for those who didn't get my last email. he has gray and white stripes, a white chin and white paws, a gray nose with an orange tip, a long torso, and a very prominent M on his forehead. he's very sweet, quiet and social. there's no tag, and no microchip (took him to my vet to check that out). i cannot keep him, because my cat does not get along with other cats. right now each has its own territory with its own set of food, water, litter box, etc. with a closed door between them, things are o.k. so far. however, i am going out of town this saturday for a week. i hope to find its owner soon. i am reluctant to pass him onto a shelter. if you have any information or can help in any way, it would be greatly appreciated. thank you, christine

The First Annual Arts and Craft Fair will happen this Friday and Saturday, Dec.3&4 from 10 am to 4 pm at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church at 5801 Hampton St. There is no admission fee. Do your shopping with us. We will have jewelry, pottery, baskets, baby items, fiber art, framed pen and ink drawings, art vases, backpack purses, vintage style purses, animal print totes, jeweled eye glass holders, old fashion hat pins, hand knitted items, handmade papers, etc. We will have baked goods from Sweet and Savory catering.
