Hello Neighbors & all the Kids of HP: The Highland Park Childrens' Committee has two October events planned: AUTUMN DECORATION PARTY Saturday, October 25th at St. Andrew's churchyard (afternoon time to be announced) We will decorate pumpkins provided by HPCC, have an apple tasting contest, and make Halloween decorations. If your kids would like to wear their Halloween costumes, feel free! Snacks and cider provided. COSTUME PARADE AND PARTY Friday, October 31st, from 7:30 - 9:30 pm at St. Andrew's churchyard (& inside if weather is not good) In conjunction with the St. Andrew's annual Halloween kids' event, we will have a special after trick or treat costume parade from Negley & Highland Avenues to St. Andrew's followed by a costume contest, scary organ music, a climb up to the clock tower to ring the bell, ghoststories, and a little magic show. Prizes awarded for most creative, scariest, and other categories of costumes!! Teenagers are welcome! Please contact us if you can volunteer your time or talents: -donations of healthy, fall-themed snacks, made with apples, pumpkin, etc. & apple cider. -story tellers to dress up in costume & tell a ghost story (we will find you a story if you don't know one!) - a magician - a magician outfit -drummers or horn players to dress up in costume and lead kids from Negley & Highland Avenues toward St. Andrew's after trick or treating ends. **Don't be shy to dress up yourself! We are not helping these kids when they think that crime is likely to go unpunished, and their parents and community will not notice their behavior...whether good or bad. It seems that calling the police if they are again spotted looking in cars would be justifiable and a decent act to help neighbors...Officer Gay recommended doing so before verbally alerting kids that they are being watched. christy

I have two openings in the Thai cooking series. You may register for 1 class or all of them. The cost is $55.00 per class. Classes are Saturday afternoons from 1:00-4:00 PM. November 8th: Mango chicken lettuce wraps, corn cakes with a sweet cucumber and peanut sauce, fried lemongrass chicken planks in a red curry sauce, pad Thai, panang and pineapple pork curry (from scratch), Thai pasta salad, ice cream with a chili peanut sauce. November 15th: pesto salmon skewers with plum sauce, Tom Yum soup (spicy), steamed chicken dumplings with peanut sauce, pineapple fried rice, green chicken curry, Thai beef salad, and sticky rice with mangoes.

[Highland Park] Found- Black Lab Puppy

Just found: Young black Lab puppy, un-neutered male with no ID, only Steelers collar and tag. I found him crossing Highland Avenue at Jackson Street. He is very sweet. but wouldn't leave my older dog alone. He is at the Animal Rescue League- 412-661-6452.

i was walking back from walnut market on monday and behind one of the houses on the corner of euclid and bryant, i saw two boys, maybe 10 years old or younger, with a small fire lit. it took me a few seconds to realize what i'd see, and when i doubled back they had stamped out the fire and were gone, but in light of what everyone else is posting about kids in the neighborhood, i thought it was worth adding to the list. genevieve hampton st.
