Does anyone know of anyone who can install ceiling tile for me? I had a leak and some of the tile from the ceiling is coming down and now need replaced. On page 138 of the current (November) issue of Pittsburgh Magazine there is a favorable review of this book, written by the East End/East Liberty Historical Society and published earlier this year. For those who have not yet obtained a copy, they are available for sale through Al Mann, 412-661-5947, alfred.mann(a)verizon.net, with the proceeds going to the non-profit Historical Society. The price is $20, with no tax. These books would make great Christmas presents.

[Highland Park] car part follow up

The car part found on Callery belongs to my husband. It took us awhile to notice it was missing, and when we learned neighbors had found it we knew it was ours. That prompted us to look for the small case of quarters we keep in the car, and we realized it was also missing. Nothing else appeared to be touched - nothing rummaged through or strewn about -- portable CD player, papers, etc. all fully intact. That's why it took nearly a week for us to notice anything. Please note: my husband is always diligent to lock his car. We suspect the car vandals know how to pick locks. We don't mean to cause undue alarm, but please use this as another reminder to not leave any valuables or even coins in your car. Dear Highland Park neighbors, As some of you know, I am a Judge of Elections here in Pittsburgh, and a journalist who has been writing about voting issues for the past 6 years. I recently turned a short op-ed I wrote about Why Vote? into an attractive large poster. I believe it includes some inspiring, fresh and very real thoughts about why people should vote in this election (and beyond). It is totally non-partisan.
