The scary part is this man comes late at night most of the times, and I wonder what he would do if people were not home. After my home was invaded last month, by the man who lived next door to me, and I know he used to lurk late nights, I plan on putting hidden cameras around to try and catch someone trying to come in. I felt so violated. I believe that if you have any kind of camera phone, that you always take it with you, so that you can capture this man if he comes to your door asking for money or anything. We need a good description of him. This person need to be caught. Let's all work together on this. Rick

Hi all, Just arrived back from a vacation overseas and while reading up on all the latest on Tony, I thought I should share the strange incident my family and I encountered late last night. Around midnight or so just as we were pulling into town after an overseas flight and long car ride back to Pgh, our car was approached while stopped at a red light at Washington Blvd and Penn by a gentleman making gestures and looking distraught about something. I was driving and because my husband was in the car, I lowered the passenger window to hear what he was saying and he approached. Initially he was asking where he could find a gas station with a mechanic to fix a flat tire...but when he got closer he started going into a lengthy story...that he was not dangerous...that he needed $11...my husband quickly told him sorry, we can't help you and instructed me to drive away - which I did. The man seemed harmless enough and was not aggressive when we declined to help him but the incident reminded me of Tony - although I am not sure it was him. For whatever reason, ( jetlag, fatigue, false sense of security) I had let down my guard and should not have lowered the window. We had our 3 children sleeping in the back. Just thought I would share and remind everyone that there may be more "Tony"-like incidents occuring around the East End and not only in Highland Park. Lori Rongier Farragut St

We will be distributing house tour posters at the HPCC meeting on Thursday night (7:30 at St. Andrews). We want the posters to be put up in neighborhoods all over the city and in nearby suburbs. If you would like to volunteer to put up posters in an area of the city that you frequent, and you will not be able to attend the HPCC meeting, please email me at housetour(a)highlandparkpa.com and I will save a stack for you. We can arrange a time next week or next weekend for you to pick the posters up from me. Also, thanks to the 15 people who offered to volunteer the day of the house tour as a result of my last email. A young friend of ours recently realized she was a victim of the scam last week. She got home at 2:45 AM and a man came out of the trees near the corner of Bryant and Portland. He said something like ,"Don't worry, I'm not a rapist or a mugger." Our friend said he was really convincing, but she was scared and gave him 20 bucks as she rushed to her house. Sat. evening 8/13 he convinced a family in the 6500 block of Jackson St. to give him money. Apparently he should win an oscar for his convincing performance. They were totally convinced that he lived down the street somewhere!
