[Highland Park] Owner of D & L Dry Cleaners Died Today

Sadly, local media reports that Dominick Lippiello, owner of D & L Dry Cleaners, died in his shop on Bryant Street this morning apparently of carbon monoxide poisoning. I knew him as "Tom" but perhaps it was really "Dom" or he went by his middle name. I did not know him personally beyond talking with him a couple of times and taking his photo for the Highland Park business listing on the web site. I have been told that his family lives in Squirrel Hill and that before he opened his business on Bryant Street, he operated a dry cleaner shop on Jackson Street at the location where Hendrix House of Hair is now. Would anyone like to coordinate sending a gift of flowers or anything else to his family in appreciation of his 20 years or so of being in business in Highland Park? Rudy

[Highland Park] Large hungry black boxer-looking dog.

Last night in our yard and on our back patio a large very hungry black (boxer, cane corso?) dog was spotted searching for food. We will call the animal shelter in the morning, but we just want to let the neighborhood know as this dog is desperately in need of some food and therefore might be aggressive. [Highland Park] E-Fest this weekend

E-Fest is a weekend street festival designed and implemented by ten East End youths. It showcases the community's emerging and established artists, and offers food, games, music, rides, performances and other activities. Hello, everyone, Education Innovations, Inc. would like to invite you to participate in the first major fundraiser for NatureLAB, our out-of-school time program coming soon to the Highland Park. (see below for details about NatureLAB) A golf outing to benefit NatureLAB is scheduled for September 3, 2004, at Hillcrest Country Club in Lower Burrell. It is our first golf outing and we hope you will help us make it a great success. If you're not a golfer, no problem. There are opportunities to join us without playing golf. For only $175 per player, each participant will receive all golf fees, a delicious lunch before golfing, pop and beer at the turn, happy hour with a live jazz band, an elegant dinner in the ballroom, and a chance to win a car, vacations, and some surprises.
