also available online at http://unionproject.org/About_Us/News THIS FRIDAY - URBAN FUSION LIVE Join the Union Project for the 2nd Month of Urban Fusion Live, our new First Friday music series featured local artists. This month local singer/songwriters Clark Slater, Tony Lee, and Todd Adleff will take the stage, Friday, March 2nd at 8pm. The three performers of the evening have gained fans and acclaim both locally and nationally. Tickets for the Urban Fusion Live concerts are priced at $5 for adults and$3 for children under the age of 13, free for children 5 and under, with proceeds benefiting the final renovation of the Great Hall of the Union Project. Tickets are available at the café and online both individually and in series. Below is the 2007 performance schedule for Urban Fusion Live. SIGN UP NOW FOR MARCH CLAY CLASSES Union Project will again be offering a Monday evening open studio and a Thursday evening beginning wheel throwing class. Classes begin at the end of March. All class fees include clay and glaze materials. Students enrolled in classes will have the opportunity to utilize the Union Project's new gas reduction kiln. UNION PROJECT VOLUNTEER DAY – MARCH 24 The Union Project welcomes volunteers from 9am-3pm to contribute to a number of landscaping, maintenance, and construction projects. Individuals and groups are both welcome. In addition to novice volunteers, we're looking for a couple of skilled volunteers to take the lead as project coordinators. Landscapers and others with experience in gardening and grounds maintenance -- please call Mel at 412-363-4550 ext. 21. Unskilled volunteers and others interested in helping with these projects should email volunteer(a)unionproject.org. CALL FOR PGH GLASS ARTISTS The Union Project is seeking artists working in glass and glassware to participate in Margaritas in March (March 23, 2007) and in conjunction with Pittsburgh Celebrates Glass 2007. Pittsburgh Celebrates Glass 2007 is a city-wide celebration of glass and glass art. For its part in Pittsburgh Celebrates Glass 2007, the Union Project is planning to host several events involving and celebrating glass art. Margaritas in March will involve the sale of handmade glasses, margarita tasting and music. Artists will recover 70% of the revenues from the sale of these classes. The remaining 30% of the sales will go the Union Project to help recover the cost of the events and to contribute to the organization’s operational costs. I need a piano teacher for my 5 year old daughter. I am looking for someone who teaches a traditional, classical method as well as jazz chords/chord changes/chart reading. We have a piano at home. She can study there or we will bring her to you. Her schedule is flexible except for Saturdays from 1 to 3. She is available before 1, however. My daughter has had some professional instruction and comes from a family of trained, professional musicians. [Highland Park] Dog picked up

This morning Pgh Animal Control picked up a stray dog from our neighbor's lawn (Sheridan Court, which is off of Sheridan between Hampton and Bryant). It had no identification. Another neighbor said that it was a large black dog (Labrador or maybe Rotweiler) and friendly. If you have lost such a dog, you should contact Animal Control.

Hello neighbors! It's time to begin the preparations for our neighborhood Spring Party and Egg Hunt and we need you to help make this year's event a success! The party is scheduled for March 31 from 12:30 -- 2:30 at the Farmhouse Playground. We need volunteers in the following areas: prep work (including making-up treat bags to give out at the party) building of a few simple games (ARE THERE ANY PEOPLE WITH TOOLS OUT THERE WHO WANT TO HELP ME WITH THIS? :) PLEASE? LOL ) set-up and clean-up the day of the event help with games, crafts, prize booth, and more during the party (scheduled in 1 hour blocks of time so you can volunteer for a bit AND be free at the party if you wish) donations of snacks and juice are also very welcome! Remember, you don't have to have children to be involved with the Children's Committee! It's a great chance to get to know some of your neighbors while providing the kids of our community and the surrounding area a FUN and FREE event. PA Resources Council and Appliance Warehouse team up to accept drop-offs of refrigerators and air conditioners for FREE The Pennsylvania Resources Council, Inc. (PRC) announces a partnership with the Appliance Warehouse for free and discounted appliance recycling. For FREE appliance recycling, individuals are invited to drop-off their old, broken or unwanted major appliances at Appliance Warehouse, located at 523 Bingham Street, South Side. Appliances include air conditioners, refrigerators, washers, dryers and other products typically categorized as "white goods". For every appliance dropped off, Appliance Warehouse will make a donation to support PRC's grassroots litter and graffiti prevention efforts in the community. There is no limit to the number of appliances that may be dropped off. Freon will be removed at Appliance Warehouse by EPA certified technicians. If individuals need their appliances picked up from their homes, they can call the Appliance Warehouse at 1-888-GO-FREON (463-7366). Those who mention the phrase "Don't be a litterbug" (one of PRC's catch slogans) will receive a 10% discount off the pickup service. Visit www.prc.org for more information. I'm going to be moving soon and am looking to sell/get rid of a number of my things, including: a full-size mattress and boxspring used for less than a year, a full-size Pennsylvania House four-post bedframe, a small humble-looking but fully functional coffee table, a number of cans of unopened paint, and a 1977 Schwinn men's 5-speed bike.
