Hi all, Please call me if there is a barking dog annoying everyone. I will go and check on the dog; make sure it has water and shelter from hot sun and contact the owners to see if they need dog walking services or even just a brief respite from dog responsibilities. I have two dogs myself so I know how overwhelming they can be at times. Often I am over there anyway, walking dogs or visiting kitties... Mr. [Removed by request] I received your below email and you are absolutely right that I have responded to the speeding motorist complaints, loud noises, prostitution, reflection pond usage and other incidents regarding safety that were brought to my attention, including door-to-door soliciting of funds, vandalism, stolen bikes, fireworks, and a variety of personal emails from the Highland Park Community, so I apologize if I did not respond to your specific email. Hopefully, I can address the specific issues you describe below: Loitering is not illegal in Pittsburgh. Currently there are no laws or ordinances in the City of Pittsburgh to address loitering. The person you describe has the right to be on private property unless the owner asks him to leave. The gentleman could be restricted, by the owner, from non-public or those areas where the public does not have a legitimate purposes, like behind the counters/register area. The cartload of electronics...I have not noticed the homeless person; however I can have a beat officer periodically check the gas station to try to identify him. There are laws which limit my ability to demand identification or inventory his personal effects. Civil actions and lawsuits, not my area of expertise, so I cannot address the potential or validity of a lawsuit. I can forward your email to our law department for review. [Highland Park] Stolen Laptops

Hi Everyone, My sister and her husband, who live next door to me on North Euclid Ave, had both of their laptops (both Apples) stolen from their house today right in the middle of the day - I know because we left at the same time, around 2:30 pm and returned at around 3:15 pm. Her house was broken into during that hour or so that we were gone. This is particularly upsetting as this means someone had cased the house and was watching and waiting - just to get the laptops when we left- nothing else was touched. The police officer that came said there have been several break - ins in the area - please be sure your front doors and windows are locked, and please keep your eyes open for folks that might be casing the neighborhood. [Highland Park] Reservoir of Jazz Children's Activities

Hello again neighbors! Did you know that the Reservoir of Jazz begins in less than two weeks? Evening concerts will be taking place in the park near the main entrance during each Sunday of August and the first Sunday of September. The HPCC Children's Committee has been asked once again to provide activities for the kiddies (every week except the first week) and I am looking for volunteers to help supervise crafts and instrument making! [Highland Park] lead paint at the farmhouse

I just heard from a neighbor that the County Public Health Department tested the farmhouse for lead and found high levels on the exterior of the building and in the surrounding soil. Have they communicated with the neighborhood in any official way? Does anyone know if there's an action plan? Can anyone confirm this? My children are teens now, but if I had young kids, I'd keep them away from the building and out of the dirt at the Farmhouse Playground until I knew more. Paola Jackson St.
