[Highland Park] Working Girl Problem

In the past both my older son and my husband have been approached by a woman working the Highland Park Area on N. Negely Ave. and Portland between Stanton and Jackson. As a result my husband started calling the police on a regular basis. It worked we haven’t seen her in a couple of years. However, we now have 3 women working the area and we have started making the phone calls again. We are also seeing more drug activity in the area. Hey there, My name is Emma Blackman-Mathis and i live past Dillworth on stanton avenue. my bike was stolen a few days ago, and i was wondering (with hope from another bike found via this list) if you all could help keep an eye out for it. This is the Museum's 3rd annual event to help families celebrate their child's first giant leap into the great mystery of school with a collaborative event presented by many of the region's leading educational organizations. This free event* is a chance for all parents and caregivers to share in an important milestone with their children. *Each kindergarten-age child and one accompanying adult will be admitted free to the Children's Museum for this event. Children will receive t-shirts, books, and other fun gifts while supplies last. Families will have the opportunity to mark this significant milestone with activities that prepare and excite children for the first day of school, such as climbing aboard a real school bus and meeting a crossing guard. Children can take part in free vision, speech, language and hearing screenings, the Saturday Light Brigade's live radio broadcast. [Highland Park] barking dogs

I'm guessing that the intensity of the dog barking has increased because it's summer time and there are a lot of people out in their yards and on the streets; kids are playing and running around in each others yards, adults are working and entertaining outside while the weather permits and other people are just sneaking around trying to steal bicycles and other items out of our neighbor's garages and driveways. Unlike people, most dogs don't just stand around and bark to hear the sound of their own voices. They are making people and other animals aware of their territory. Dogs act as a general trouble deterrent. I for one have a dog and don't mind being alerted by him as to the presence of others around my home and property. If a neighbor's dog is acting up, I take it as a sign that I should have a look outside and make sure everything is as it should be. Olga Watkins
