Join us Friday October 5th from 6-8pm, during Penn Avenues' Unblurred for a free coffee and dessert reception and the official introduction of the Youth Barista Program to our community. We will be serving FREE coffee drinks from our beautiful newly constructed coffee bar in our Great Hall with live musical entertainment and a pottery seconds sale. The Union Project is proud to announce a partnership with Starbucks for our new Youth Barista Program, an onsite skills training program for young adults. Over the coming year this program will train 30 young men and women aging out of foster care. Forty percent of foster youth end up homeless in their first 2 years out of the system. This program works to change that number locally by providing youth with skills and job placements in café and food service, allowing them to earn a living wage. Yesterday while driving down the alley between Portland St and Mellon St, I noticed a few garages had been tagged with profanity. It appears to be the same color that was used to graffiti the wall where the mosaic is being put up. [Highland Park] Burglary Update and Bathroom Renovation

Hi Neighbors! Many of you have inquired about the status of our burglary case, so I thought it would be best to just send an update to everyone. Last week, the police arrested the man who allegedly burglarized our home and others in Highland Park. I met with a detective this morning who was able to return a few of the items taken. Last week I got most of my jewelry back. We have been *very* lucky! I can't thank the Pittsburgh police enough. They have been nothing but kind and helpful throughout this ordeal. I also wanted to thank you for your bathroom renovation recommendations. I've been in touch with two contractors and hope to have some estimates next week. Cheers, Kelly Weinheimer Callowhill Street
