[Highland Park] Used Cub Scouting Shirts/Books?

Folks, My boys have recently started cub scouting (one is a Wolf Scout, the other a Webelo). I am not sure whether or not this will work long term and the expense of the uniforms for an activity that they are not sure of is daunting. Does anyone have any of the blue cub scout shirts that their boy has grown out of (I need 2: one around a size 10, the other an 8) that they are looking to sell or give away? We could use a tan shirt in size 10/12 if a blue is not available. Also, does anyone have the books - Wolf and Webelos? Otherwise we'll have to head to Headquarters this next week. [Highland Park] Free tree/shrub

Hello Neighbors... I am trying to find a new home for a small tree/large shrub. It has only two problems: 1. It's not my style; and 2. It is planted too close to my house. Obviously, those are only problems for me! >From what I can figure out with my gardening books, it is a hardy evergreen shrub known commonly as an Eastern white cedar (Thuja occidentalis) or Arborvitae. Some gardeners plant these trees in lines to make a screen. But Arborvitae can also be used as ornamental or specimen plantings by themselves. Mine is sort of Christmas-tree shaped and is about 5 feet tall. Would probably look cute with lights on it in December in someone else's front yard. Hi Neighbors - Please note that the deadline for purchasing ads for the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra community outreach concert at Peabody on October 25 is approaching. Ads must be in by Tuesday October 9. All proceeds from the ad brochure(as well as ticket sales) will go toward music education programs right here in our community. There are still tickets available for the concert and they are very affordable: Tickets for adults are $10 in advance or $15 at the door. Tickets are $5 for seniors and students 18 and under, and group discounts are also available for groups of ten or more people. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 412.361.5662. [Highland Park] Anti-Violence Summit for Teen Girls @ Peabody on 10/20

Hi Neighbors, I've been involved with planning this program; if you know of teen girls in East Liberty, Highland Park or any of the surrounding neighborhoods, I hope you'll encourage them to take part! *ALL girls -- individuals, groups of friends, clubs, groups of girls currently part of other youth programs (like church youth groups) -- are welcome to attend!* -------------- This fall, Girl Scouts – Trillium Council will present four P.A.V.E. Agents of Change Summits as part of the national P.A.V.E. (Project Anti-Violence Education) Program, supported by Girl Scouts of the USA and the US Department of Justice. The summits will be on consecutive Saturdays throughout the month of October 2007, in recognition of Anti-Violence Month. Each summit will include anti-violence workshops and break-out sessions that will educate and empower teen girls (ages 14-17) on topics like Internet safety, bullying prevention/intervention, gang prevention and crime prevention. There will also be fun musical and dance performances, prizes and give-aways. Lunch is included. *All girls ages 14-17 (or in grades 9-12) * including current Girl Scouts and non-Girl Scout members, are invited to attend.
