[Highland Park] Free tree/shrub
Hello Neighbors... I am trying to find a new home for a small tree/large shrub. It has only two problems: 1. It's not my style; and 2. It is planted too close to my house. Obviously, those are only problems for me!
From what I can figure out with my gardening books, it is a hardy evergreen shrub known commonly as an Eastern white cedar (Thuja occidentalis) or Arborvitae. Some gardeners plant these trees in lines to make a screen. But Arborvitae can also be used as ornamental or specimen plantings by themselves. Mine is sort of Christmas-tree shaped and is about 5 feet tall. Would probably look cute with lights on it in December in someone else's front yard.
