[Highland Park] Children's/Youth Books Wanted for Autism Center Waiting Rooms

The greater Pittsburgh area is now home to three Autism Centers (Mt. Lebo, Wexford and Moon), connected to a national organization called Autismlink. The Pittsburgh area centers would greatly appreciate donations of all reading levels of used children's/teen books for their waiting rooms. This would not only be nice for the children who are clients, but would be a real boon to siblings who must wait around while their brothers and sisters undergo evaluations and receive therapy. [Highland Park] Blast Furnace Demo and Book Release 1/22/08

Hello All The East End Historical Society is having a demonstration of a real working blast furnace on Tuesday at Borders Books in East Liberty. This is in conjunction with the release of the book on the East Liberty Valley. The attached press release was sent by Al Mann, who was instrumental in getting the book published. For those folks who can't open the attachment, here is the short version: Borders Books and Music 5986 Penn Circle South, Eastside Second Story level Tuesday January 22nd Blast from 7:00-7:10 pm (don't be late); pre-heating before that. Book signing and snacks afterwards. Rain or snow will not stop it, since the iron pouring out will be 2,800 degrees!

YOGA with Barbara I am starting a weekly yoga class at the East Liberty Library: Wednesdays, First Floor Meeting Room, 5:30 - 7 p.m. Traditional Hatha yoga for stretching, flexibility, breathing techniques, and--of course--relaxation. I am an experienced yoga teacher with training from the Himalayan Institute. Bring a yoga mat or just a towel and join me at the library! Everyone is welcome.
