Just wanted to give a heads up to anyone who plays at the farmhouse that there seems to be some wasps living in the base of the water fountain. We were playing there yesterday and my daughter was stung, then we noticed them flying back into the fountain. I haven't had any luck contacting public works, so just be careful. [Highland Park] Home needed for Special Needs Cat

I'm posting this for a friend. If you're interested, please contact her directly at susan.tbliss(a)gmail.com. ------- KCD is a special needs tortie-point Siamese cat with beautiful blue eyes who needs a home. I've already talked with all my friends, neighbors, and every no-kill shelter in western PA. I've also contacted every Siamese rescue organization on most of the east coast. So far, no luck. A friend of mine rescued KCD and her newborn kittens about 10 years ago. We found homes for all the kittens, but not mom. Since all my cats have been rescued, I figured she and I would work out fine together. KC is a very shy fearful cat. I have never touched her on her terms. When she first started living here, I had to leave the house before she would come out of hiding to eat or use the litter box. Now, we're to the point that she sleeps on the bed when she thinks I'm asleep, she eats when I'm around, and likes to be in the same room with me. She sometimes comes when called - about as often as any cat. Now and then, she'll take a piece of food from my fingers. For some reason, she likes to sit in the kitchen and watch me cook, even though she generally doesn't like the ingredients. I will be doing a lot of travelling in the next couple years and she cannot go on the road with us - it wouldn't be kind or fair to her. She needs to be in a home where the people have no expectations of her. She has done better when there is another cat in the house, but she doesn't do well with dogs or birds. I'm guessing she would not do well with small children. Her name is a story in itself. When I first got her, I took her directly to the vet. They required a name and MomCat was not ok. So, I decided on Klingon Cloaking Device, since she was pretty invisible back then. Generally, I call her KC, often pronounced "Casey". By the way, she has tested negative for all the nasty feline viruses and had initial shots. If adopted, she would come with her cat tree, litter box, cash for an initial vet visit, and a giftcard for food. I live off Saltsburg Road in Penn Hills, but will be happy to deliver KC to an adoptive home. -- Pamela Buongiorno buongiorno(a)mindless.com
