Come play frisbee Wednesday evening at 6:30 pm across from the Highland Park swimming pool. All genders/ages/skill-levels welcome! Thiis is a very informal game, but a lot of fun and great exercise. Bring friends! Where: Meet directly across from the Highland Park swimming pool. When: Wednesdays (Starting July 15) at 6:30 pm to sundown or so. What to Bring: one light and one dark t-shirt, water, cleats if you have them, 175g frisbee if you have one. Subject: Historic Landmark Proclamation This morning Jamie Edwards and I received a proclamation from Pittsburgh City Council in recognition of our recently completed Historic Landmark event honoring Samuel Kier and Charles Lockhart as Petroleum Pioneers of Pittsburgh. The session was videotaped and is scheduled to be broadcast tonight (Tuesday September 1) on Comcast Channel 13 at 7:00 pm, and then again on Saturday September 5 at 10:00 am and 7:00 pm.

Ryer Martial Arts on Centre next to Panera offers a great kickboxing class... and has just added pilates and yoga. Shadyside Spin on Centre in EASTSIDE next to Whole Foods How about the traditional martial arts society on Baum Blvd. I have been going there for 8 years. http://www.tmas-dojo.com I just saw Absolute Ballroom on Hamilton Ave. It's pay-as-you-go there, and just dance/zumba, etc. check the website: http://www.absoluteballroompgh.com/calendar/classes.cfm I take an aerobic kickboxing class in squirrel hill I love it. The Union Project has Zumba and Yoga classes a few nights a week which are pay-as-you-come classes ($5.00 each class). I think they have a zumba class on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 - 7 and a yoga class on Wednesdays from 7-8. There are also dance classes at Dance Alloy on Penn near Negley. I go to a free yoga class at Pitt from 12-1 on Tuesdays & Thursdays. The Kingsley Association has all kinds of exercise/yoga classes. Through the Healthy Black Family Project (for which you don't have to be African American) they are free. Otherwise, it's $150 for the year (& unlimited classes and a pool). If the times work for you, it's the best. It's not super close, but I just love the Zumba classes at Shaolin Studios in Regent Square. I'm a member of the Homewood Brushton YMCA...they have reasonable rates (I pay $18/month) and most of the classes are free! They have Hip Hop Aerobics for $5 per class and spinning classes for $3. I take low-impact aerobic classes at West Penn Hospital's Nurses Residence in Friendship. The class is offered Monday and Wednesdays at 5:30 PM.
