We have the following AAA tour books for the taking. Illinois, Indiana, Ohio: 2004 and 1997 Florida: 2003 Hawaii: 1994 Oregon, Washington: 2004 Conn, Mass, Rhode Isl: 2001 Mid Atlantic (Del, Md, Va, W.Va): 2007 The city and town info. (sites to see, places to visit, museums, etc ) is mostly up to date though the hotel and restaurant rates might not be. They are in a plastic bag on the curb at 6020 Wellesley Ave. --

Dear Neighbors, A nearby neighbor is an older man who lost his job 2 years ago. He has had a very recent string of bad luck and in the past 3 days has had his car and his furnace break down. The estimate to fix the furnace is formidable and he has gone the past 2 nights without heat. Although I have asked hm to stay here until he figures out what to do, he has not accepted my offer and has stayed home with a space heater on each floor. He told me that last night his living room was registering 47 degrees. I am afraid of what this cold can do to him and I'm asking for suggestions or help. Does anyone know of any government, church, non-profit, or neighborhood funds available? Or is there someone who could repair the furnace at a reduced rate? I'm willing to contribute towards the repair but can't afford the whole cost. Thanks so much, Kate 412-298-2168

Evensong at St. Andrew's Thursday February 4, 8 p.m. Long-time Highland Park resident and HPCC Member Betty Jo Rieley will play works by Frederic Chopin and Felix Mendelssohn in the recital following Choral Evensong this month at St. Andrew's. The service, beginning at 8 p.m., observes Candlemas (The Feast of the Presentation of Christ in the Temple: the Purification of St. Mary the Virgin), which traditionally falls on the 40th Day of Christmas, February 2. (Here in Pennsylvania, of course, there is an additional name for this midwinter holiday . . . . Or at least that is the case up in Punxatawney!) Sung by St. Andrew's Choir will be service music by William Smith of Durham (Sentences) and C.V. Stanford (Service in A Major), with introit by Johannes Eccard and anthem by Orlando Gibbons. Guest Preacher will be the Rt. Rev. Kenneth L. Price, Jr., our new Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh. And a festive Candlemas Dessert Reception will follow the recital, in the Parish Hall. St. Andrew's is located at 5801 Hampton Street, in Highland Park. Everyone is welcome. our dry cleaner no longer takes back our wire hangers and I am hoping there is a way to recycle them. I did take some to a scrap yard on the sourht side but was a trek. They insisted on paying (not very much) and it was not important to me. Does anyone have any idea how these can be recycled - I don't want to send them to a land fill. anyone have any ideas?? [Highland Park] tankless water heaters

The Ben Franklin Plumber Joe Lesko, did some work recently at my house and we talked about tankless water heaters. About two years ago I needed to have a new water heater installed. I wanted to get a "green" one but the plumbers I spoke to at the time did not advise it. Things have changed, more options are available and there is a big tax rebate on them, plus a special PA rebate this coming March. I won't change mine now, since it's too new, but if you're in the market for one, Joe is very capable and can advise you on the cost and installation.
