Dear Neighbors, A nearby neighbor is an older man who lost his job 2 years ago. He has had a very recent string of bad luck and in the past 3 days has had his car and his furnace break down. The estimate to fix the furnace is formidable and he has gone the past 2 nights without heat. Although I have asked hm to stay here until he figures out what to do, he has not accepted my offer and has stayed home with a space heater on each floor. He told me that last night his living room was registering 47 degrees. I am afraid of what this cold can do to him and I'm asking for suggestions or help. Does anyone know of any government, church, non-profit, or neighborhood funds available? Or is there someone who could repair the furnace at a reduced rate? I'm willing to contribute towards the repair but can't afford the whole cost. Thanks so much, Kate 412-298-2168
