"I have a healthy (already has shots/ vet checks), female, 8-week old Rottweiler/ Black Lab puppy. Because of a strange turn of events, I adopted this puppy but am unable to keep her and am looking for a new home, free of charge. If nothing turns up, however, I will have to take her to the local humane society. I just wanted to mention.....does everyone know about the "Archives" feature of this list? If you click on the website address that comes with the email, in the middle of that webpage there is a link for "Neighborhood Archives". It lists every past message that was posted to the list. (Also a good thing to keep in mind when composing your subject line: if you put the most important word of the subject as the first word is is easy to find in the alphabetical subject listing.) If you're looking for a computer guy or roofer, you can easily scroll through the archives. Of course, it's also great to get in touch with neighbors again, but thought this might save folks some time. Thanks.

[Highland Park] Oil & Gas Drilling and Excavation legislation in Pittsburgh

Today, Councilman Dowd introduced legislation to protect citizens from drilling and excavation dangers. Until now, the City of Pittsburgh has had no regulations concerning oil and gas production, leaving the City no recourse to deal with drilling permits approved by the state. Because zoning legislation takes effect upon introduction to Council, the legislation introduced by Councilman Dowd acts as a temporary protection until a final bill is passed. In the meantime, the Councilman looks forward to working with his colleagues to revise this bill to best protect the city from environment hazards stemming from natural gas drilling within the limitations of Pennsylvania law. Many residents of Council District 7 have expressed deep concern about this issue, and Councilman Dowd and the District 7 staff share your anxiety. We will do our best to share information with you regarding informational events on this topic and opportunities to share your questions and concerns. We also encourage you to contact your legislators at the state and national level about this issue, particularly given the larger role that they will play in determining where and how the natural gas companies can drill.
