Because of a strange turn of events, I adopted this puppy but am unable to keep her and am looking for a new home, free of charge. Having encountered this issue several times recently, I'd like to add my full support to the email regarding off-leash dogs. This past weekend while walking through the park I met several dogs off leash. When my dogs see that they then think they are at the "dog park" and want to be off leash themselves, and get excited. It's hard to believe, but my dogs aren't perfectly behaved. It's difficult to ask them to ignore other dogs, however, when they are running all over the place. Then we have to confront, "Oh, don't worry, he's a nice dog." These dogs approach mine, their owners "just being friendly" and, I think genuinely, not understanding (or caring) that we didn't think it was "cute" (or particularly friendly). Whether dogs are well-behaved or not isn't the point. In addition, it sets an example quickly followed. Both of my dogs received the AKC "Good Citizen" certification. One is a therapy dog. The other will walk off-leash and never leave my side if I let her. But I don't. The fact is not everyone enjoys dogs. Many are, believe it or not, fearful. We had repeated incidents a few years ago while walking our dogs with two young (8 and 10) family members who were scared of dogs. After they became used to our dogs they asked to accompany us walking them. Nearly daily we had to ask someone to please leash their dogs or not allow them to come running over. Almost invariably the response was one of indignation and resentment. There are several large, accessible areas for dogs to run off-leash in Pittsburgh. I'd love for there to be one here in Highland Park but the fact is that there isn't. Even at these locations, however, pet owners let their dogs loose far ahead of the off-leash area, unable to wait the few minutes it takes to reach it. I wish the city had more staff available to ticket these owners. I'm certain they will after someone's small child accidently scares, or hurts, a "nice dog," and is badly bitten. Please ask pet owners to leash their animals or take them to an enclosed area. If we don't, the assumption is that it's okay to keep doing so.

West Penn had by far the most referrals and very satisfied customers. The Green Over Green referral came from the owner and CCI had mixed reviews. A disclaimer" I've not had a chance to get the audit done -- surprise plumbing issues postponed and you need to have your last month's gas and electric bills, which I didn't have as I throw away as I pay. West Penn Energy Solutions www.westpennenergysolutions.com Regis McQuaid of Master Remodelers – although when I called them the price for an energy audit was $1500 (triple what most charge) and none of the cost of the audit goes toward the work.
