Here are the radiator cover recommendations. (1) Keystone Plumbing - (2 recommendations) 412.462.8600. One homeowner suggested adding a layer of foiled thin foam backing to the inside back of the metal cover. (2) Ace Radiator Enclosure Co. ARSCO Manufacturing CO. 800-543-7040 We had this company make our radiator enclosures/covers in 1991. They help radiate the heat much better and look so much better than the old radiators. Our other concern at the time was that our old radiator probably have lead paint on them and we did not want our young children running their little hands and toys over the top of them. We live on the 900 block of Sheridan. I just had the most surreal experience. Because of a neighbor's dog who was barking all night tonight, my wife and I happened to be up at 4:30am; that's a whole other story. Anyway, I'd just come back in the front door from walking our own dog, who wondered what the hell we were doing up at such an hour. As we were getting ready to go back upstairs, my wife said "Looks like someone's coming to the door." Sure enough, someone's walking up the front steps to our porch with a flashlight. I figured it was probably another groggy neighbor annoyed with the dog barking and saw that I was up and about. After all, I'd just walked into the house at most 30 seconds earlier. I head to the door and the person sees me, turns around, and starts walking back down the steps to the sidewalk. I open the door and say "Hey! What's going on?" It's a young black guy, less than 20, about 5' 9" or so. He doesn't run away or get confrontational; he keeps inching away, but this one's a conversationalist. "I thought I saw some fence cutters," he says. Oh, right. That explains things. Carry on. "You thought you saw what?" Maybe I wasn't hearing him right. "Fence cutters, sir. I thought I saw some on the porch." I know if I were a character on Law and Order I'd be much better at this, but I found it hard to even come up with a followup question at this point. I mean, here I am, talking to a guy who's prowling the neighborhood, my front porch, looking for tools. And telling me about it. "So wait. Even if there WERE fence cutters up here, they'd be mine. Not yours. Right?" "That's right, sir. I'm sorry." This is indescribably weird. "So what would you need fence cutters for even if you found some?" "I'm really sorry, sir. I'm just a simple thief. I know it's wrong. I don't know." Still polite. And strangely honest. Pushing my luck, I asked if he lived around here (no), and what his name was. Thiery, it sounded like. He might have been lying, but really, I think he was too stunned to lie. When last we saw Thiery the polite, non-local simple thief, he was heading down Sheridan towards Jackson. We filed a report, of course. Maybe I should've tried to tackle him. Or invited him in so he could tell me more about himself. I think there's a chance the latter might actually have worked. Ahhhhh, the subtle joys of city life.

Just a quick note to let you know that the Nuin Center, a wellness and conference center on Bryant St., has been using Tom Morgan from Ocean Breeze (412.805.5602) for the past year for many projects and doing a great job. He responds to our call very quickly and has done numerous jobs for us--plumbing, painting, handyman, removal, just about any job that I need extra help.
