My efforts in composting have been pretty lame so I am giving it away. It's a cylindrical shape, in two pieces plus a lid, with a little door that slides open near the ground to pull out the finished composted material. [Highland Park] Recognition for Farmer's Market Cooperative of East Liberty

August 2nd through 8th is National Famers Market Week, as proclaimed by the US Department of Agriculture. Pennsylvania joined in the fun by declaring its own celebration of PA farmers markets. There are approximately 1,200 farmers markets in the state of Pennsylvania. Out of all of those markets, the state is recognizing two markets- one of them is our very own- the Famers' Market Cooperative of East Liberty. (Please see the text of the press release below.) The market will be visited this Saturday by a few officials from the state, including Deputy Secretary Mike Pechart. He will tour the market and make some comments at 9:30- this Saturday, August 7th. To celebrate the event, the farmers have declared it a "customer appreciation day" and will be providing a variety of free samples for our patrons. We will provide free iced coffee at the the Kew Park Coffee Bar. For those of us who have been patronizing the market for years, this recognition comes as no surprise. But we are gratified by the recognition. We also sincerely hope that this will attract new customers and patrons that will also come to know how special our market is. Open on Tuesdays, the outdoormarket, located at Ogontz and 72nd avenues, began in 2003 and honors the FMNP vouchers. "Farmers markets are a great way to showcase agriculture across the state, especially in the cities, while ensuring all citizens have access to fresh, local food," said Kilgore. New this year, the market expanded to include produce for sale from Foundations Inc.'s "Seeds for Learning" initiative, an afterschool urban farm and entrepreneurship program based at the nearbyMartin Luther King High School. Agriculture Deputy Secretary Mike Pechart will tour the Farmers Market Cooperative of East Liberty inPittsburgh at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 7. Owned by four agricultural businesses from Western Pennsylvania, the co-op is led by president James Kennedy of Butler County whose grandfather started going to the market in the 1920's and helped form the co-op in 1941. Kennedy's son, John, and daughter-in-law, Valerie, are the family's fourth generation to operate the market. The three other owner farms are Greenawalt Farm from Westmoreland County, Kistaco Farm of Armstrong County, and Zang's Greenhouse in Butler County. One city block long, the former horse stable turned market is open year-round on Saturdays from 5 a.m. to noon, honoring the FMNP vouchers. The Kennedys operate a meat case providing locally-grown and processed beef, pork, lamb and poultry. In addition to the four owners, at least five other vendors offer fresh fruits and vegetables, eggs, dairy products, baked goods, teas and nursery plants. *Call For Artists: Arbor Aid 2010: Reveal* *About the Event: Arbor Aid: Art Created from Salvaged Wood* *Arbor Aid celebrates the possibilities presented to us by trees as resources within our city and region, and is a fund raising event for Friends of the Pittsburgh Urban Forest. Rather than chip or log urban trees that need to be removed, Friends of the Pittsburgh Urban Forest encourages giving them a longer life by repurposing them as art, furniture, flooring and everything in between. Arbor Aid showcases artwork both decorative and functional created from salvaged wood. This year’s event, Reveal encourages artists to reveal the beauty of urban trees. Hello, I am selling my 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan minivan for $1,500. Inspection Date: December 2009 (Passed) Miles: Approximately 150,000 New in 2009: Two tires, fuel pump, battery, etc. Current issues: The vehicle currently has an issue with what I believe is the idle screw. It also needs to have its breaks checked by a mechanic. I am willing to discuss these issues in further detail with a mechanic and with any potential buyers. Dings: There are two small dents on the bumpers. I decided not to have them repaired because they did not cause any mechanical issues. Reason for selling: I now work in Shadyside and I cannot drive a vehicle to work because of parking. Instead, I ride a bike or public transit. I was planning on buying a new car by the end of the summer, but now I have decided to wait until the end of the year. I also was planning on trading this car in for a new car, but I have decided to sell it before then. Brief history: My mother bought this car in 2000-2001. I then inherited the car in 2005. I'm looking for a good electrician to come in and offer suggestions for the existing light/ fan wiring. There see4ms to be 8000 switches and dimmers in this house , and some I can't even figure out what they are supposed to work. Some lights/fans have an ability to (at the switch) turn off the fan while the light stays on, and others do not. [Highland Park] Car Break-in on King Ave

My roommate's car was broken into sometime the evening of 6/3 and morning of 6/4 before 11a. The car was parked on King Ave near the corner of Bryant St. Doors were locked - the person broke a side back window to enter the car.
