Just a warning to still be careful riding on east liberty blvd in the evening. I just got back in from a ride (8:20 pm) and saw 4 kids on a dirt path just before negley run with rocks in hand. I happened to look directly at them as they were about ready to throw and said: "hey guys" and smiled. instead of rocks, i got dirty looks and a "wassup, n*****." Dear Neighbors, I'm new-ish to this neighborhood, and signed up for this listserv immediately after the terrible incident at Stanton and Negley. Remarkably, for all the supposed outrage for what seems to have been a hate crime, no one else seems to find this email both alarming and horrifying? What if I substituted the words "Morman" (sic) and "Utah" with "Muslim" and "Iraq" or "Hindu" and "India", would that have caused anyone pause? It is very common for college-aged students to take summer jobs selling all kinds of things door-to-door: alarm systems, pest control, house painting, etc. I am positive this salesman's religion has nothing to do with the security system he is selling, nor is everything out of Utah suspect. I know nothing about what security company he works for, and maybe they are terrible, but please, contact the BBB or research consumer reviews to make an assessment! For what it's worth, I have known a number of very lovely Mormons who I would happily do business with, just as I would anyone of any religion. And, I love Overstock.com, which is a seriously awesome company based out of Utah!
