Neighbors, I've attached a flyer describing the yard sale. Please take them to work or your favorite coffee shop and post them for everyone to see. Also, you can tell people to take a look at the Highland Park website, http://highlandparkpa.com , where there is information about the yard sale including a listing of items for sale arranged by street. [Highland Park] Request for yard sale volunteers

Neighbors, The yard sale is upon us. Everything is set. The weather looks fantastic. It will be a great day in Highland Park. I am looking for volunteers to hand out yard sale listings. If you could contribute an hour or two of your time on Sunday morning it would be greatly appreciated. The task is simple. There are set locations in the neighborhood where we hand out maps & listings to people visiting the neighborhood. The visitors are smiling and are appreciative of the volunteers' help. They may ask for directions or a hint on where the best yards are located. It is fun, it is easy, and it feels good helping the bargain hunters. Please let me know if you are interested. I'll need to know when you would be available to hand out the listings. The yard sale starts at 9am and we staff the map locations until 1pm or when the maps run out. I still have a fair amount of mulberry tree firewood in my back yard. I'd rather not give it away for free (getting a tree cut down is not cheap!), but no reasonable offer for a bit of wood will be refused. Even $10 will buy you a good-sized load. Send me an email if interested. Thanks! Ben

Dear Supporters of Scenic Pittsburgh, The Pittsburgh City Council will soon vote on the proposed zoning ordinance regulating electronic billboards. Scenic Pittsburgh supports many of the provisions in the proposed ordinance regarding business premises signs, and video entertainment venues. Unfortunately, the ordinance still allows for the conversion of hundreds of existing billboards to electronic billboards. New billboards could also be built in places where they are currently prohibited. Now is the time to tell Mayor Ravenstahl and Pittsburgh City Council that our beautiful and scenic city should not be used a backdrop for commercial advertising. Go to www.scenicpittsburgh.org/getinvolved.html and SIGN THE LETTER telling your elected officials that electronic billboards do not belong on our skyline or in our scenic views. We are looking for 50 characters or less, and if the HPCC Board votes your tagline the winner, dinner is on us! (Not to exceed $50. We are a non-profit after all.)
