[Highland Park] Highland Park - Noise Complaints

Summer is here and so are campers at the shelters in Highland Park. At the HPCC meeting last night, I asked Zone 5 Police Commander Timothy O'Connor what to do when the noise from the shelters is too loud. The city's noise ordinance states that noise should not be audible more than 75 feet from the source at any time of day. If you have a noise complaint, you should call 911 and the operator will prioritize and process your complaint. Police will respond by warning the campers or citing them. Most of us would hesitate to call 911 over a noise complaint, but Commander O'Connor reassured us that this is how the 911 system is designed. Of course you will have to specify the shelter where the noise is being created.

[Highland Park] More theft attempts -- Wellesley & Highland

Yesterday afternoon someone got into our garage, tried to steal some things that were locked up and randomly smashed my car window. Later last night, someone tried to break into our neighbor's house while they were home. The dog frightened them off, but the thieves managed to get into their truck and steal a number of items. Also, yesterday afternoon, someone attempted to steal bicycles from a nearby rental property, but a neighbor saw them and called the cops and frightened them away. I appreciate the efforts of the police, but am rather sick of people breaking into my property and trying to steal things as this is the third time something like this has happened in less than two years.

I have a black Tv stand (could be used as a bookshelf). It has two shelves and two drawers on the bottom good for storing dvds/movies. Approximately 2 feet high and 4 feet wide. Very sturdy. The black contact paper(?) is peeling a tad at the edges, but doesn't show much-- probably an easy fix if you want it. Free to whoever wants it!
