Topics such as how to share the road, how to bike safely, and other such street safety-related questions will be welcomed for our speakers. In July we will be offering CPR/Stop The Bleed/Stroke Awareness and other trainings courtesy of the city's Emergency Management team. This will take place at our regular July meeting. If you aren't familiar with Romp n' Roll, we are a kid's gym with gym, art, and music classes for kiddos up to age 6. We also have summer camps, kids night out events, and amazing birthday parties! Since there was so much interest / concern about the trees that were removed in the park parallel to Bunker Hill Street, I asked PWSA for a written explanation of the decision making. I’ve attached a schematic here that shows the selections that were made. The decision for these removals was made in partnership with City Parks and City Forestry, who joined us for a site-walk before the project began. Going from left to right on the schematic: - Removing 10” crabapple - Pruning low limbs on two 30”+ trees to minimize the drip line - Remove maple and oak trees, to be credited by the City for removal. These trees are both very close to the path of the pipe *and* were deemed to by dying by Forestry. If you walk past, you can see that the trimmed branches are hollow. - Remove 25” oak - In blue, I circled an additional tree at the far right of the schematic to be removed. Forestry will determine where trees will be placed back into this area, with ample space from the pipe. We appreciate residents’ understanding as we make this crucial connection between our two reservoirs, which will provide a link between the systems and add an additional layer of security to our water service.
