The folks from East Liberty Development (ELDI) are making a documentary-style video about our Farmers' Market- the oldest continuously operating farmers market in the city.  Local artist and videographer Michael Pisano will be doing the shoot and conducting the interviews.  He is interested in interviewing both farmers and patrons of the market.  And I am happy to report that Jim and Rita Kennedy will make a special visit to the market on Saturday.  They will be there from 7 am until 8 am.  So please try to stop by and say hello to Jim and Rita (especially you old-timers)! Please see below for an update on items at the market.  Please note that local peaches will be available for the first time this season at Kistaco Farm. Hi neighbors, I'm passing on some information about an ongoing study at Pitt- The Voice Physiology & Motor Learning Laboratory at the University of Pittsburgh is conducting a study evaluating how the vocal folds (cords) function during different breathing conditions. You may be eligible if you are: · Female. · Not currently pregnant. · Non-smoker. · Aged 18-45 years old. · No history of voice problems (such as hoarseness lasting longer than two weeks), breathing problems (such as asthma, COPD), and psychological problems (such as anxiety, panic). · No history of vocal training · Not taking any medication which may affect voice. The study will take place over two consecutive days involving approximately 1.5 hours of total time. You will be compensated up to $50 for your time. [Highland Park] a plug for some *super* painters

Hi. I wanted to put a plug in for 2 incredible painters: Cyle Dowling and his cousin Mike Browning. They are painting the inside of our house this week, and our little ol' "nice-enough" house is being transformed. Since Monday morning at 8:30, Cyle and Mike have shown up, worked for 9-10 hours every day, even in this crazy 95-degree heat, and done really excellent work These guys are amazing: meticulous, fair, honest, work like dogs, knowledgeable, flexible, extremely accommodating, etc. Honestly, I can't say enough good things about them. They show up, sand/repair walls as needed, wash, prime if needed, and paint 2 coats of Sherwin Williams. I anticipated that it'd be a huge pain to have painters here all week, but they've been so organized and personable and low-key that it's been a joy to have them here. Oh: plus theirs was one of the lowest bids that we got. If you know anyone who needs to have some painting done (interior or exterior), you might want to forward this email to them. I was a little skittish at first about going with *Student* painters, but things couldn't have gone better.
