The folks from East Liberty Development (ELDI) are making a documentary-style video about our Farmers' Market- the oldest continuously operating farmers market in the city. Local artist and videographer Michael Pisano will be doing the shoot and conducting the interviews. He is interested in interviewing both farmers and patrons of the market. And I am happy to report that Jim and Rita Kennedy will make a special visit to the market on Saturday. They will be there from 7 am until 8 am. So please try to stop by and say hello to Jim and Rita (especially you old-timers)! Please see below for an update on items at the market. Please note that local peaches will be available for the first time this season at Kistaco Farm. Please also read the note below on a special item from Kistaco Farm. *********************************************************************************************** The Update Greenawalt Farm Locally grown items include zucchini, pickle cucumbers, radishes, asparagus, rhubarb, green onions, strawberries and possibly blue berries. Also, fresh cut herbs such as chives and mint. In addition they will have locally grown eggs and their normal selection of Amish made products. J.L. KENNEDY MEAT STAND Special items for this week include: - LEAN FROZEN STEAK BURGER PATTIES in stack of 8 - BEEF STICKS softer than jerky and easy, quality snack - CHICKEN TENDERLOINS by the pound - PORK SLAB/SPARE RIBS Phone hours are mon- thurs 9-9 and 9-6 pm on friday. Zang's Greenhouse...Locally grown items this week include, shelling peas, cucumbers, pickles, sweet onions, zucchini, beets, micro greens, green onions and lettuce. Local strawberries. California Olive Oil Connection To promote education, I have copies of the book Extra Virginity book available to borrow. So stop by and borrow a copy when you have some time to give it a read. The Greek Gourmet- will have homemade spinach and meat pies to the market each week- in addition to 20+ flavors of hummus. Stop by and talk to Jack at the booth. PA Made Cheese- We have new cheese shipments from Riverview Dairy (aged goat cheses) and Hidden Hills Dairy (aged cow milk cheeses). We will also have fresh curds. Kew Park Coffee Bar- Fresh locally roasted Kew Park Coffee- we have Dark and Medium roast beans available.
