Does anyone know of anyone who services sewing machines in your home? I have a sewing machine in a cabinet I'd like to give to my niece, but would like to get it in tip-top condition first. I am a 25-year old college grad trying to teach myself the cello. I am looking for an experienced cello player or teacher to help me get started properly, so I don't learn any bad habits right from the start. I'd like three or four one-hour informal lessons to help me understand the basics mechanics of left hand technique and bowing, and I can afford to pay $20 per hour. Please let my know if you can help me learn this wonderful instrument!

Dear neighbors, I want to extend my deepest thanks to all of you for the tremendous response to my email seeking housing for my visiting Italian PhD student. Many of you responded with offers of housing options, but there were even replies from people who didn't have housing but were willing to open their homes and guest rooms for a short time. I was really touched by all of this and was very proud to be able to tell my visitor about all of the people who were willing to help out at a moment's notice. I'm happy to report that she has found a place here in HP, and we have talked many times about what a wonderful neighborhood this is and how terrific its residents are. [Highland Park] Kids' July 4 Parade in the Park

The Highland Park Community Council Kids' Committee is hosting its annual 4th of July Parade. Kids of all ages are invited to decorate their bicycle and then show off their handy work with a parade around the fountain. When: July 4 at 10 a.m. Where: Highland Park -- meet near the fountain Supplies to decorate bikes, tricycles, wagons and anything else on wheels will be provided, as well as balloons and snacks. Volunteers to help the little ones with decorations and to fill helium balloons are needed. We are also accepting donations of red, white and blue decorations for the children to use to decorate their bikes. Supplies also can be dropped off at the side porch of 5914 Wellesley Ave. Hope to see you all in the park on the 4th. Teri
