Call for yard sale volunteers

The yard sale is on Sunday and I am requesting volunteers to hand out map listings at strategic points around Highland Park. The visitors to the neighborhood are fun to watch and are appreciative of the free map. Posts are staffed in two-hour shifts between 9am and 1pm. There are four posts at Highland & Stanton, Negley & Hampton, Highland & Bryant, and Bunkerhill & North Saint Clair. I will provide a certificate of appreciation for children and students who volunteer for the event. This is a good opportunity for parent/child public service. Please consider volunteering. Jewelers workbench

This bench is 40" high, 36" wide, 20" deep. Drawers all work smoothely. Was used in a small jewelery store for 30 years, before I inherited it in around 1980. I used it for various model train kit and doll house construction. Still has a small assortment of jewelers tools. Great for anyone who does small craft or model building work (or fixes watches or jewelery). Best offer. see attached photo. -dk

Antique Instantaneous (tankless) water heater made by Rudd

This one (see attached photo) worked with no problem until I took it out of service about 20 years ago and replaced it with a conventional heater. It has a huge copper coil inside. It's been sitting in my basement every since. Zone 5 Community Crime Update - May 25 - 31

Please see the latest report attached. The most interesting part for Highland Park is the Crime Trends section. It indicates 3 burglaries in the neighborhood. They are not listed in the report, but I know some emails went out to the ListServ about them. Please call 911 if you see anything suspicious. Crime Trends Zone 5 experienced a spike in burglaries and theft from automobiles this week. Specifically, a cluster of thefts were noted in Stanton Heights (Schenley Manor Drive, Coleridge Street, and Woodbine Street). Highland Park experienced a spike in burglaries (Bryant Street, Winterton Street, and St. Marie Street). Lincoln-Lemington also experienced several burglaries this week (Lincoln Ave, Tilden, Street, and Rowan Street). **Many of these crimes occur because the victim’s forget to lock their cars or homes. Please make sure you always lock your doors! Be vigilant. If you see something out of place, call 911. If you see a person or vehicle that doesn’t look right, trust your instinct.
