Free: 10-foot Homemade Dining Table

My husband and I designed and built this table with oak boards, oak newel posts and polyurethane stains from Home Depot. We are not carpenters and it shows. I carved some grapes and vines on each side of the apron. This would be great in someone’s basement to set up giant board games, train sets, set the kids at to do crafts…or maybe at a business to do assembly of whatever you assemble. We built this as one piece that does NOT break down -- that is, the legs are not removable plus there’s a fifth leg in the middle -- so you'll need to be creative in transporting it. Also you need to think about how you’re going to get a ten-foot, five-legged table into your space. It’s about 45 inches wide, 30 inches high. The top is a bit beat up and could stand to be refinished. There are also some tiny dings in the one side where I keep hitting the car door into it (it’s now in our garage as you can see). Free: Indestructible Coffee Table

This coffee table was built about 36 years ago by a small hippie furniture company in Colorado and we bought it with part of our wedding money. It is solid (SOLID) pine 48”x32”x15” high, weighs a ton and four adults could dance on top of it without hurting it. Obviously, this would be great in a house with little kids. It’s ugly. It originally had a dark stain and in a moment of crafty insanity, I (badly) decoupaged brown kraft paper and a National Geographic world map onto it. Then, to TOTALLY uglify it, I painted it yellow (badly) when I got tired of the map decor. You could probably strip it down to the bare wood with some effort. Or add more paint, like The Fence at CMU. This will take two people to carry out of our garage and into your SUV, van or truck. This is one continuous piece of furniture; it does not break down into separate parts for convenient transport. FREE. Emails only. No phone calls. Nanny Share
