[Highland Park] Furniture needed- donate to MyPlace Program!

Hello List Serve! Have any furniture you don't need? Want to donate to a good cause? We are looking for furniture donations: couches, tables, chairs, bed frames (full size only), sofas, love seats, nightstands, coffee tables, lamps and end tables. Items go to furnish apartments for youth who have aged out of foster care and are in the MyPlace program. Many youth age out of care without a support system and end up couch surfing or living in very unsuitable conditions. Many just have their personal belongings and a few suitcases of clothes. In our program they have two years of transitional housing with supportive services to get on their feet and learn essential life skills and home maintenance. Our next move will be TUESDAY, MARCH 12TH. We work with a moving company, so if you have items to donate please let me know as soon as possible so I may schedule the move. If you are unable to be there on Tuesday for pick up, you may leave it on a porch, driveway, etc. and we can pick it up. We will provide a tax receipt as well. Thanks everyone! Megan

[Highland Park] Looking for coffee grinder

Hello, I'm wondering if anyone has a coffee grinder they don't use that they'd be willing to sell for a reasonable price. They're not very expensive (I'm thinking of something like this model: http://www.mrcoffeestore.com/product_detail.asp?T1=COF+IDS57, which is only $18), but it's one of those things that if someone's not using I'd rather buy second-hand than new. Even if it's a bigger/different model I'd be interested to hear what you'd want for it. Thanks! Meg

[Highland Park] FIOS: When your 2 yr. plan runs out > How to renew and save a few dollars

Hi there, When your 2 year FIOS triple play bundle comes to an end there is an option to renew the bundle and save a few dollar a month. They don’t make it obvious, but if you login to your online account you can probably find it, or try this link: http://www22.verizon.com/ForYourHome/GoFlow/MyVerizonNew/ACSLogin.aspx?Flow… If all else fails just start an online chat and the rep. will point you in the right direction. I’d suggest asking about “renewal of an expired plan.” For me it’s not a great deal of savings but I suspect I’ll be saving about $7.00 a month or $84.00 a year over the cost jump caused by the expiration of my original 2 yr. plan. Also: V. no longer provides (or better to say, sells in a new plan) 25 / 25 internet so the recommended renewal for 25 /25 seems to be 50 /25 and the whole package price is locked in for 2 years. Then again, there is an option for 15 / 5 internet which could save you even more money. ---------------- To give you some perspective about internet speeds: Older mid level Verizon DSL was around 2.5 / ??? ( that’s 2 DOT 5 ... not 25 and with an unknown upload speed ) The X of the X / Y is your download speed and the Y is your upload speed. X or download is most always all that really matters to a “normal” internet user, i.e. your not an online gamer or needing to upload websites etc. and you just browse and do email and occasional youtube or hulu for movies.
