[Highland Park] Window Washer recommendations for old windows

Hi HP! Our window washer (also cleaned our gutters) for 8 years is unavailable right now. Does any one have recommendations? I should add that we have old windows with some old style heavy storm windows. Realize the window cleaning will have to wait until spring; but we would like to have the gutters cleaned if the weather improves. Appreciate the help! Brian and Joann

[Highland Park] Crime watch

Hello members, I just wanted to update everyone about the crime watch information. I received a binder of information hand delivered to me by a counsel member. The representatives are very aware of the desire for our community to stay safe! I have a sign to post on Jackson street. I would love any input on this. I am a bit new to this, but as I can already see the new neighbors the owner selected next to my home may not be a great fit. The counsel member did stress to me to contact her for any issues occurring with this landlord. The landlord continues not to keep up with her properties , and continues to rent to just about anybody. The counsel woman stressed that this woman is doing this , not just in Highland Park , but in our other areas as well! I was very happy to meet this lady who went out of her way to hand deliver all materials needed to deter any nuisance in our area. Please email me or call me. I will be contacting the known active members in the 5600 block of Jackson street to set up a meeting. If anyone else would like to input there voice please let me know! Hello members , As a long time member of the community, I would like to reach out to anyone in need of holiday help as far as cleaning services. I stopped my business over a year ago, and began taking care of an elderly woman. I am a medical assistant, and secretary by trade . I have grown a lot since I stopped cleaning businesses, and homes. Hi, a nice neighbor left a note on our porch, along with a large package that was for us from Amazon. She found it on her sidewalk, torn open. It looks like someone may have taken it, and looked inside, thinking there was something good in there to steal, with the holidays coming up and all. Luckily, it was just cat food and dried fruit, nothing was taken. I remember there being some packages stolen in the past in Highland Park, so thought I would alert the list serve just in case.

Dearest Neighbors, As a Landlord of many Section 8 families, I have often seen tenants with some hard lives and sad stories. Recently, one such family, who live in Hazelwood reminded me of just how "*low*" low-income can really get. Last year, the single mother of the household passed away. Now, her oldest son of 31 years, Tim, cares for her youngest child, Nathan, who is 11 years old. It is just the 2 of them in the house and the other day I was there and noticed how dirty their kitchen was. Tim informed me of his budget and showed me that after utilities, rent, etc - he has $63 left over for toiletries and food. This hit me HARD. I plan to bring some small xmas gifts over for young Nathan as well as some household products for Tim and perhaps even some common foods to have around such as ketchup, oatmeal, etc. Things that every house should have on-hand. My plea - if any of my fellow highland parkers have* spare (even half-used) household cleaners, paper products, toiletries, canned soups, 11 yr old trinket for xmas, etc for Tim and Nathan - *I can promise you, it will be Most appreciated! i am even thinking of bringing over some scarves, gloves, etc for them. Anything really. I am sure whatever they don't use - will get passed on to other family members who will make good use of it! I just can't bare to think of them over there eating ramen noodles with holes in their shoes, etc. Sigh. I know - we can't save everyone...as much as i would love to. I DO think this is a worthwhile effort though because it would make a big difference in this family's life! It is their first Xmas without their mother. Tough. Anything you can contribute - I thank you. Just shoot me an email. I will pass through and collect from people's porches this Saturday if you just send me the address. THANK YOU AGAIN NEIGHBORS!!
