Dear Neighbors, A year ago, a few Highland Parkers funded a "Neighbors in Need" program, in partnership with Bloomfield-Garfield Corp. An update is attached for you review. While the holidays are a wonderful time for many, there are many neighbors close by who face daily struggles. Below is a list of a few recent requests for help that come from East End neighbors. Any assistance you can provide to help these people, our neighbors, would be greatly appreciated. Know that each request is researched before any award is granted. To donate, please send a check payable to "Bloomfield-Garfield Corp" and note "Neighbors in Need" in the memo line. You should mail the checks to. c/o Mr. Rick Swartz Bloomfield-Garfield Cop. 5149 Penn Avenue Pittsburgh, PA 15224 THANK YOU so much, Tom Dickson A four-year old boy in need A four year-old boy battles chronic asthma while his mother tries the best she can to keep it all together. Frequent visits to Children's hospital have contributed to her unemployment. Her single wish is to make her son's Christmas a little brighter. A Mother and Daughter in need A chronically underemployed young woman and her mother are fighting to keep their apartment. They have 12 months of past-due rent and struggle to pay it off so they can stay in their home. With 3 days of work a week, the $354 payment from the daughter is all she can handle. Any help would be appreciated so this family might avoid eviction and all of its ramifications. A Mom and Three Kids lose their home to fire A young mother and her children recently lost their home to fire. All of their belongings were lost. This young lady also battles a serious heart ailment. While she has a home that she will move in to shortly, she has no furniture, cloths, you name it. We will solicit furniture donations from agencies like Off the Floor--they have a serious backlog-this family needs a lot more. Can you help?
