Everyone, Please find the information below about the Spring homeschool session of the First Tee Pittsburgh's golf clinics. (They do run after school programs as well.) They aim to take golf out of the circle of exclusive clubs and they teach life skills along with golf (manners, meeting new people, goal setting, good sportsmanship and the like). Hello neighbors! One of our 1st flr tenants (a woman) is moving south sometime in June. The remaining tenant, a male international professional, is looking for a roommate. They got along well and respected each other's privacy. He - and we - would like to find someone as laid-back, clean, quiet, and friendly as she has been. Therefore, I post the below ad. Roommate needed - Highland Park Clean, quiet, friendly, non-smoking professional or grad student needed to share 2 br apt in Highland Park beginning July or August 1st. Very nice apt - spacious, clean, and renovated in 2010. Close to bus on Highland and Negley, allowing ready access to Oakland and other East End neighborhoods. Quiet street. Available bedroom is large, with large closet and bay window. First floor of Victorian house has gas heat and central AC, newer w/w in LR, DR, hall, & BRs with tile floors at entry and in kitchen and bath. Kitchen has newer fridge, gas range, and a dishwasher. Ceiling fans in DR & BRs. Custom mini-blinds on windows and doors. Newer storm doors and Marvin windows with screens. Tenants share free w/d in cellar, fenced backyard, and large side yard with 2nd flr landlords. Space will be allowed for garden, if desired. One off-street parking space is included in the lease. Sorry, no pets. Rent is $437.50 plus electric. Gas and water/sewage included. Wifi for a small fee. We would like the new tenant to sign a lease with the current tenant through July 31st, 2012. Dear Highland Parkers, This week "GIFT TO AMERICA" will perform at Millvale's St. Nicholas Croatian Catholic Church, celebrating Pittsburgh's art treasure housed there. "GIFT TO AMERICA" is a one-hour dramatic interpretation of the genesis and creation of the emotionally evocative "Millvale Murals" by Croatian artist Maxo Vanka. When asked in 1937 by Father Albert Zagar to create a series of paintings for the walls of St. Nicholas Church, Vanka, a recent emigre deeply grateful to his adopted homeland, transformed the work into his own highly personal "Gift To America" -- a heart-stopping visual testament to faith, people and country. The performance dialogue, written by Dr. David Demarest was originally staged in 1981 and again to sold-out audiences in 2008. The production is directed by Geoffrey Hitch of Highland Park.
