I sorted through my scrap fabric, and I have a big box of stuff (mainly jeans which are too hole-y for even the most fashion-forward young people today, but lots of other things of various sizes and styles) that is beyond use and honestly, beyond repair. I'd gladly donate them to a group that needs them, or, barring that, to any individual who thinks they can use the scraps. If you can think of a group who wants them (animal shelter, theater troupe, recycling group, etc) or if you personally want them, please let me know! Dear Neighbors, Girl Scout Cookie sales start Friday, January 7th. There are at least 12 girl scouts living in Highland Park, representing 2 troops. Please support your neighborhood girls as they gain confidence and courage by ringing your bell. Cookies will be delivered the week of February 16. For many troops, this is their only fundraiser. Troops use these funds to do such things as an over night horseback riding trip, which is especially important and meaningful for urban Troops. Thank you in advance for your support! Two Roombas. Been unplugged for a while since I realized I can't keep the floor toy-free enough to use them regularly but they worked fine last time I used them (probably 6 months ago now). $25/each. Accessories included (wall hanging rack for one, charging cords, and extra filters for both.) Batteries replaced a year ago when they started not holding a charge anymore. Hi everyone, I am posting this for a friend who works for this organization. Since it's right in the area, she thought it would be helpful to post this to the neighborhood list. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am working on a project at work called the East End Cooperative Ministries Community Stress Center. We provide services to the community at no charge and have lectures and workshops regarding the relationship between physical health and mental health. We provide stress evaluations, activities workshops like African Dancing, and provide blood pressure checks. We will have visiting nurses coming in the next few months to do more health screenings. Wondering if anyone has had good or bad experiences at either Urban Active or Club One. I'd like to join a gym but know that there will be a hard sell at both.
