[Highland Park] Humidifier needed

I'm trying to get my hands on a used humidifier. Although we keep our thermostat set pretty low at night, lately we've all been waking up parched (including our baby, who's taken to getting up before five, presumably for the same reason). A humidifier in the bedroom would solve this problem and help the wee one sleep a little longer. Looking for something inexpensive that gets the job done. Thank you! Heather Cramer

[Highland Park] PA LCB License Renewal

Hello Neighbors I was contacted by Rep. Joseph Preston Jr.'s office in regards to the renewal of licenses from the LCB. Every 2 years, the liquor licenses come up for renewal. The PA Liquor Control Board started the "Nuisance Bar Program" in 1990 to refuse licenses of restaurants, clubs, hotels, beer distributors and retail dispenser eating places which have abused the privilege of holding a license. The LCB is now preparing to release the applications for renewal of licenses in Rep Preston's district, so they are looking for feed back from the community in identifying any licenses in our area who have consistently abused their license privilege. Information that supports a pattern of abuse of license privilege will be reviewed at a hearing prior to official action of the Board. Primary targets are those establishments with multiple violations on or about the licensed premises or in areas under the licensee's control, involving incidents such as drug activity, sales to minors, sales after hours, sales to visibly intoxicated persons, and noisy and disorderly operations. Rep Preston's office would like any feedback that we have for any licensee in his district, not restricted to Highland Park. So if you have any info on businesses in the East End (I don't know his exact district boundaries), please pass it on to me. I have been asked to gather this info and send it on to Rep. Preston's office, so they can get it prepared to send to the LCB. If you have any feedback, please send it to me by Thursday 1/13/2011, and I will pass it on to Rep Preston's office. Please give as much detail as possible, and include contact info. I am not sure what info they want, or the format of it, so if you include good contact info it will be easier to follow up with you. This review occurs every 2 years, so if there is a licensee who is abusing their license, you should continue to track and report any abuses. It takes a while for the LCB to investigate, so don't expect immediate results from any info you report now. For anyone who wants to check (or wants more info), this review of abuse of the licenses is pursuant to authority granted by Section 470 of Act 14 of 1987. I have a copy of the letter that was sent by the LCB to Rep Preston's office, and can send a scan of it to anyone who is interested.
