Good morning friends and potential neighbors! My husband and I are looking to purchase a home in Highland Park within the next two months and would greatly appreciate it if you would keep us in mind if you are considering selling or know of someone else selling their home. Our ideal space would be a 3br/1.5ba, hardwoods, dependable gas/electric/water and a small yard. We are open to purchasing a home in need of a little tender, loving care. Insofar as the kind of neighbors we are, we always have a cup of (unprocessed) sugar or (local-farm-raised) eggs to loan. Our (rescued) miniature schnauzer teaches a relaxation yoga class in his free time and we are sure any children we have will be well-behaved-non-screaming-or-tree-climbing-early-reading-non-mailbox-bashin g-gifted-and-talented angels who would be happy to babysit for free. My extremely good-looking husband tends to mow the lawn with his shirt off. I know seven types of CPR and we'd love to come to your BBQ/Yard Sale/Pot Luck/Supper Club/Neighborhood Watch/Restoration/Beautification/Committee Meetings. Looking to rent a safe secure parking garage for my sports car from November to April. Once the car is parked I may need access to it once every 2 months or so. A garage close to Heberton would be great, but not a must. A plug for a trickle charger for my battery would be great if possible. Looking to pay $300.00. Fellow neighbors, I am passing this along from some friends, so please forgive me if you have already seen it. Please join us if you can. Thank you. ---------------- The Women and Girls Foundation is organizing a candlelight vigil to be held in the portico of the City-County Building in Downtown, Pittsburgh, Thursday August 6th at 5:30pm to offer support and non-denominational prayers to the victims and families of the Collier Shooting. "We are organizing this vigil so that we can join together as a community to send collective prayers to the families of the women who were killed and the women who are still in critical condition, as a result of this horrific and violent act against women," said Executive Director Heather Arnet. "From the murderer's own blog and note, it is more than evident that the focus of his rage and violence was women. This vigil is intended to send strength and prayers to the families who are grieving and for those women and their families who are hoping to heal from this horrific event." All members of the community are encouraged and welcome to attend. Participating in the vigil will be representatives from the Women and Girls Foundation, local elected officials, the National Organization of Women, National Council of Jewish Women, Pittsburghers Against Domestic Violence, local victims service agencies, and many other community organizations. All are welcome. Also participating in the vigil will be members of Women and Girls Foundation's Regional Change Agents, a diverse group of 15 teen girls and 15 adult women from Allegheny, Fayette, Greene and Washington counties, who have come together to engage in civic advocacy in their communities to support women. The tragic events of Tuesday night have moved the Allegheny County team of Regional Change Agents to call attention to the inexcusable acts of violence against women within our community and beyond it. Please help support WGF's efforts by passing this information to your friends and networks!

The St. Raphael Parish Bazaar begins this Thursday, August 6 with the Kick Off parade at 6:30PM. The grounds will open at 7PM with games, live entertainment, kiddie rides, bingo, a huge flea market (it fills the gym), raffles, great food and a BIG $10,000 raffle. We have a 3/4 size Carved Antique Walnut Bed that is for sale. It is larger than a twin size but smaller than a full. Length is standard. The bed includes the headboard, footboard and walnut rails for the sides. Also included is a custom made new Serta mattress and box spring. Great buy. Selling all for $300.
