That's great news, of course in these financial times... we'll see. I walk past that building every day and it's been one of the most intermittent renovation jobs I've ever seen. This would be an upbeat addition given the status of other businesses on the street. I heard [anecdotally only] that Pizzaburghs would not be reopening, and the 'remodeling' sign has been up for quite a few months now. It also appears that Reynolds has gone from weekends-only to not opening at all, though I recall an email a few weeks ago from Reynold to say they were also doing some remodeling. Hopefully they can reopen soon, as we're going into one of the better times of the year for restaurant businesses. [Highland Park] Recycling bins lost after storm last night

Hi everyone, I'm trying to locate both my recycle bins (the small rectangular ones) that blew off my sidewalk last night during the storms. I live on Heberton St (close to Bryant and Hampton) and am wondering if someone saw two "orphaned" bins close to their homes. If so, I'd appreciate it if you could drop me a note - I'll be happy to stop by and pick them up. Thanks! Jay.

[Highland Park] HPCC Annual Members Meeting 9/18/2008

Hello Neighbors The Highland Park Community Council holds it annual Members meeting during September. This is the meeting where the election of Officers and Directors takes place. Traditionally, the chairs of the various committees report on what was done in the past year and what the plans are for the upcoming year. If you are a member of the HPCC, and can not attend many of the monthly meetings, this is the one you should try to attend. Only members are eligible to vote. The meeting will be held at St Andrews Church, 5801 Hampton St (between N St Clair and N Euclid), starting at 7 pm. Everyone is welcome to attend. Thanks for all the replies! Here is the summary: 1. Calebrese flooring from Verona (2 Votes). I recommended them to my neighbor who is having them refinish her floors her in Highland Park today! Could show you some recent work done for me. I find their prices comparable. The best thing I like - they're fast! 2. If you are still looking for someone, I cannot recommend Paul Calabrese highly enough. He did a fabulous job for us and gave us the best price of the quotes we got. His number is 412-828-1160. 3. I used A Satin Finish and was very pleased. Timely; great work; good clean-up.They were recommended to me and I have since recommended them to many people. http://www.asatinfinish.com/ 4. Jim "the sandman" Williamson is great and reasonable. (412) 928-8553, 14124980539 5. Eight years ago we had Coit ("floorRENEW") refinish hardwood floors in a bedroom and hallway. They did a really nice job. The cost was $540 6. Try a-z flooring 412.877-8418 7. My fiancee and I had our floors redone last year by Mike Jones. I think he's based in Carnegie. His number is 412-279-9356. I cannot recommend him highly enough. I do rehabbing and have done floors myself in the past and have hired others. Mike is in a league of his own. He's fairly priced, does a very good job, has a good eye for detail, and doesn't hesitate to tell you if something isn't required. He is also unbelievably clean. If you're familiar with floor refinishing, you know that it generates incredible amounts of dust. Mike uses industrial vacuums attached to all his sanders and leaves no residue at all. We anticipated having to clean our house thoroughly when he was done. We started wiping walls and doors and windows and found nothing. We happily stopped and spend our time enjoying our new floors 8. We're having ours done, starting tomorrow, so I don't yet have first-hand experience. But the guy who's doing it comes highly recommended by someone who has had him work for her quite a bit. His name is Delbert and his phone number is 724-493-4072. He's charging $2300 for three bedrooms and a staircase plus $200 for removing the carpet.He usually prefers to work in the late afternoons/evenings. 9. Try Leghart Brothers Inc. (412) 819-0559. [Highland Park] Missing Cat

Hello all... After waiting a few days to see if she returned on her own, I am now putting out an APB on my missing cat. She is a large white fluffly, medium haired cat with one blue eye and one green eye and she has a very light orange/brownish "smudge" on the top of her head. She is not wearing a collar - I found it on the floor! But if you spot her, please please please let me know! She was last seen in our house on the corner of Jackson and Negley but she is absolutely determined about getting out and she is very stealth about it! Thank you Tracy Thurman 412-404-8412
