ANGER: THE TWISTED LIGHT A journey into the meaning of anger LECTURE, 29th of September, 2006, 7:00-8:30 PM What is anger? What is any emotion in its inner nature? This evening's lecture will examine emotion as misplaced cognitive power and as a failed gesture of creativity and perception. Emotion is the fallen, self-oriented form of feeling -- that heightened sensitivity by which we know and contribute to the world. We will consider whether anger is ever justified, and how to transform it into the power of meditation. WORKSHOP: 30th of September, 2006, 9:00-4:30PM Novalis asked, "Do we learn to feel only once?" As children, we learn anger and the other emotions without conscious intention. To learn to feel a second time requires intentional meditative practice. Today's workshop will engage participants in exercises and meditations that begin to shift our feeling-life both outward and upward. The atmosphere is informal and light, and involves intensive group meditation. Michael Lipson, PhD, is a Clinical Psychologist in independent practice in Great Barrington, MA. The author of Stairway of Surprise: Six Steps to a Creative Life (Steiner books, 2002), he is also the translator of numerous books by G. Kuehlewind and of R. Steiner's Intuitive Thinking as a Spiritual Path. He teaches meditation internationally. Both the lecture and the workshop will be in the Auditorium of The Waldorf School of Pittsburgh ( 201 S. [Highland Park] Need Someone with a Truck Today! Please...

Hello! I have an opportunity to get a perfect love seat at a great price. The only problem is that I can't find a truck to haul it. The love seat is in Forest Hills and I just need to take it to Morningside. UHAULs are not open today (holiday?) and I have exhausted all resource postings on Craigslist. So, if anyone out there has a truck and can spare 1 hour of the day today, I would pay you for your time. Or, if you can reccommend someone, please let me know also. Time is of the essence! ~Tara

[Highland Park] Looking for 14-16 year old babysitter

My husband and I have a very well behaved 2.5 year old named Jacob. We are looking for a high school sophomore or junior to babysit 3-5 evenings per month, usually after Jacob goes to sleep at 7:00 PM. This would involve staying at our house while Jacob is asleep, and calling us if he wakes up (which he almost never does at night). This could develop into occassional weekend sessions (if desired by the babysitter) and/or some evenings in which the babysitter does the nightttime ritual with Jacob from 6:30 to 7:00 PM. I've had good experiences with Arborel (recommended by a friend and found in the Yellow Pages). Have heard excellent things about Three Rivers (found them in the PennySaver and recommended by another friend) and am considering having them do an upcoming tree removal for me. Getting bids on that right now. I got a bid from Ackerman (from Penny Saver) and found him to be way overpriced. I, too, would love to hear from others on this topic. Claudette K. Hello Fellow Pittsburgher: If you are like me you want to express your best wishes to Mayor Bob O'Connor, but just don't know how. I went to buy a bracelet and they were all gone and the prayer service was during the day when I work. So I propose that we let the Mayor know he is in our hearts and prayers, by asking all Pittsburghers to turn on their Porch lights beginning at 8 pm and ending at 10 pm on Friday September 1, 2006 as part of "PIttsburgh Porchlight and Prayers for Mayor Bob O'Connor." This gesture is something that all Pittsburghers can do to express our prayers and Best Wishes to the Mayor O'Connor and his family. Please pass this through your email list of friends and family from throughout the City of Pittsburgh and let's let him know we care!
