[Highland Park] Animal rescue league needs foster and adoptive homes.
ARL has taken in 132 animals since Friday and are desperate for homes. If you can adopt, great, but if you aren't able to make a long term commitment please consider fostering. By getting an animal out of the shelter temporarily you make space for another who is ready for adoption and literally save lives. Contact Cleda at cklingensmith@animalrescue.org. Sent from my iPhone
Hello All You Great Highland Parkers, This would be a great time to remind people to help two very worthwhile causes: Animal Rescue League and Smiley's Pet Pad. Ginny at Smiley's Pet Pad said Highland Park list readers are helping to make a difference during the Highland Avenue bridge construction and the havoc that has created for her store. Please consider stopping by there (215 South Highland Avenue) and picking up some cat or dog food or cat litter and dropping it off at the Animal Rescue League (6620 Hamilton Avenue) during their time of great need. They (ARL) are open until 7:30 Tuesday through Friday, until 5 Saturday-Monday. (412-345-7300) http://www.animalrescue.org Smiley's is open until 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 5:30 Saturday and 5 p.m. Sunday. Thanks so much for posting this. Ginny Smiley has been very good to the animals of the ARL, she needs help right now and so do we. It just never stops at the shelter, I have never seen puppies coming in like this before. Cats, yes, we'll take in approximate 5,000 from April thru July. If anyone would like to foster also, it's really pretty easy and we help you the whole way through. Thanks for helping out in any way you can. All of the recent emails about Smiley's reminded me of this email (below) sent to the list a few weeks ago. I thought it was such a great idea--I thought maybe I could do that every week or two... yet I've not yet gotten myself over to Smiley's to follow through on it, partly because it also would require taking the stuff to the ARL, partly because life has so many demands, etc. So I'm wondering whether we could organize a small group of people who would be willing to donate $5 or $10 a week or every other week or whenever to buy stuff from Smiley's for the ARL and we could take turns running the supplies over to the ARL? Maybe Smiley's could set up a fund or something that people could donate to and then one of us could take whatever that buys to the ARL? Anybody interested? Any other ideas?
