[Highland Park] St Andrew's Nursery School
I know there are lotsof people with young kids in Highland Park, and I wanted to make sure everyone knows about a great asset of the neighborhood: St Andrew's Nursery School. My two oldest boys have attended St Andrew's, and my third will attend next year. Janice Burgett runs the program for 3- and 4-year-olds. The kids do all sorts of cool stuff - right now they are eating through the alphabet at snack time, racing each other on bouncy balls and hunting bugs outside, and working on acting out "Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus" for their end-of-year program. They do a lot of art and a lot of reading, and, equally important, they learn to share and to interact with other kids and to follow directions: all kindergarten-readiness skills. (I often tell people that if Janice started a kindergarten, I'd be first in line to enroll my kids). The school is currently enrolling for the fall, and if you are interested in observing, now is the time to do it. Contact info: Janice Burgett (Director) 412-361-2195 jmburgett@hotmail.com Thanks! I second that emotion. It is a truly special place, highly recommended. Ethan Winograd

I just want to add my praise for Janice's work at St. Andrew's Nursery School. Four of your kids have attended and it has been absolutely fantastic. Janice is phenomenal and our youngest two children will be enrolled there over the next three years. Each child loves their experience at the school and especially with Janice. Each day of each week the kids are engaged in lots of art, reading, active play with lots of room to run and bounce. This is a great program lead by a wonderful teacher. patrick Patrick Dowd Member of Council, City of Pittsburgh patrick.dowd@city.pittsburgh.pa.us (governmental) patrick@patrickdowd.org (non-governmental) 412 255 2140 (governmental) 412 542 1702 (non-governmental) -----Original Message----- From: Ethan Winograd <ethanwinograd@hotmail.com> Date: Mon, 12 May 2008 09:08:30 To:<neighborhood@highlandpark.pgh.pa.us> Subject: RE: [Highland Park] St Andrew's Nursery School I second that emotion. I see an error in my original message. Four of MY children have enjoyed St Andrew's Nursery School not four of YOUR children. That probably caused confusion but hopefully some humor as well. patrick Patrick Dowd Member of Council, City of Pittsburgh patrick.dowd@city.pittsburgh.pa.us (governmental) patrick@patrickdowd.org (non-governmental) 412 255 2140 (governmental) 412 542 1702 (non-governmental) -----Original Message----- From: "Patrick Dowd" <patrick@patrickdowd.org> Date: Tue, 13 May 2008 23:14:58 To:"Ethan Winograd" <ethanwinograd@hotmail.com>, neighborhood-bounces@highlandparkpa.com, neighborhood@highlandpark.pgh.pa.us Subject: Re: [Highland Park] St Andrew's Nursery School I just want to add my praise for Janice's work at St. Andrew's Nursery School.
