Dear neighbors, Thank you very much to all of you who contributed with children's clothes and household items for making the 5 Afghan families I am helping with my friend Fahima very happy! Your kindness and generosity is heartwarming and I thank you all. I have taken under my wing a young man who came alone from Kabul with the airlift last August, like all the other families. The agency who placed the refugees placed him in an apartment in McKees Rocks where he is subjected to nightly harassment by the locals. The wonderfully kind owner of the All Foreign parts company on Butler Street has offered him the automotive job that really makes him happy and I am trying to find a closer and safer place for him to live. By bus it will take him 1.45 hr to go to work! So if you have or know of a small apartment opening for renting soon, I would appreciate it if you could let me know. He does not feel safe in McKees Rocks. Again thank you all for helping. Elisabeth Larman

Greetings, The March Community Meeting will be held via zoom. In addition to updates from the HPCC and representatives from Zone 5 of the Police Department, we will be welcoming: - *PWSA (again!), who'll provide information on upcoming water main replacements in the south west corner of the neighborhood *(see attached map). - Longtime Highland Park resident *Mike Staresinic who will discuss Ukraine*. Mike is an international development leader who hails from Highland Park. Mike has worked on 7 projects over the past 23 years on topics at the core of the current conflict: Ukraine’s desire for EU integration, democracy, human rights, and for the past 5 years, his City50 project on the future of cities in the Donbas region which butts-up against the contact line with Russian forces inside Ukraine. He will give a brief first-hand update of three cities under siege, then discuss other topics of interest to the community, such as Ukraine’s connections with Pittsburgh from 1878 to the present, what a new (fifth) wave of Ukrainians immigration might look like, and how to process and understand information that comes from a confusing situation at a time known for its historic levels of disinformation.
